sup folks wave.gif
was wondering, is the i5 VID a fixed value?
I do notice that when im using the vcore offset adjustment, at certain multi the VID vcore upped a bit (at 40x it was 1.3, at 41x it became 1.32..).
Currently im setting it it at VID -0.120 in bios
So by that calc, the vcore on cpuz is a lil off (1.32-0.12!=1.16).
I do know that Sin showed that Asrock ext4 n 6 may not show true voltage at cpuz, so my assumption this relates to that. hmm hmm.gif

setup:
i5 3570k on stock cooler
asrock z77ext4
using hd400 as gpu (being cheap here)
enermax noisetaker 375w psu spare unit from my K8 days tongue.gif

yep, im running on stock cooler just to burn in the parts on open bench, ghetto tongue.gif
hopefully the swiftec h220 will be in stock by end of the month, n to get a decent case as well

this i-x series is so different compared to my prev s939 www

>inb4 WTF??!!111

p/s: i wont be joining the 4.5g elites just yet.

**fixed pic

First of all, VID and vCore are two different things.
VID will change with vCore increase. Basically VID is the amount of needed voltage shot into the CPU at statrup.
It will increase along with the overclock (CPU frequency) you are applying hence it's not a fixed value.

1.32v VID - 0.12v VID = 1.20v VID, but NOT 1.20v vCore.
Your vCore is 1.152v

thanks bro for clearing that up.
My K8 VID wasnt behaving that way. But maybe it was just due to my old epox mobo.
Oh well.

my current i5 setup is good enuff for my Lightroom/PS edit n Hi10p movie decodes.
I hope my chip wont fail on me en route to 4.5g once my aftermarket cooling arrives tongue.gif

You are most welcome bro.
4.5GHz is a piece of cake for Ivy, provided you have a better cooler to cool it down.
Swiftech H220 240mm is a sweet water cooler for overclockers. Good luck!

Grabbed 2 modules of Corsair Dominator Platinum 2800MHz 11-14-14-35-2T 4X4GB recently.
It is a Hynix MFR kit which performs slightly worse than my CFR-based G.Skill TridentX 2800 11-13-13-35-2T 2X4GB.

What's your highest clock? below 4.5ghz, an air cooler like cooler master hyper 212 evo is pretty good for you.

Since 3570K stock clock is 3.4GHz (3.8GHz turbo) why would you want to downclock it to 3.2GHz?
A stock Intel heat sink fan (HSF) is able to handle that.

Hyper212 is supposed to handle up to (4.3-4.5)GHz provided your room temp is not too hot or your chip is a dud.

Alright that would be a turbo clock, so stock HSF will do just fine.

Idle temp should be slightly higher than your room temp; it will hit 70C + on load depending on your LC performance.

oh okay.
my temperature is at 59c during idle @ stock speed.
I don't know whats wrong. already use thermal paste 'Arctic Cooling TX-2' but that thermal paste already 5 years+
should I change a new one?

Something wrong with your temp.
You should as well check the CPU waterblock mounting.

there are some of us delid-ed our chips already.
I myself have successfully done it on two of my 3770K.
Roughly 15-20C drop on temperature. thumbup.gif
