Hi everyone,

DJSoo, pls add me into the list Bright Sliver(WWH ****)  smile.gif
Got my baby end of Jan-12 & enjoying every moment of it.  rclxm9.gif

However i have got some queries as below,

1) Static Bending Lights - Making a turn, the static bending lights didn't impress me
at all in the complete darkness. As what is advertised, you eliminate some blind spots
when turning. I don't think it did that at all. Even my front passenger was stating this.
The side lights only light up when the steering wheel reaches a certain degree of turn. Not sure what it is. Try taking sharper corners and see if it works.

I recently made a trip to Genting, while going to the top in the morning was
no issue(with the paddle shifters engaged), coming back down in the night
with the slight mist had me worried due the lack of responsiveness on
features stated below

1) Static Bending Lights - Making a turn, the static bending lights didn't impress me
at all in the complete darkness. As what is advertised, you eliminate some blind spots

is always dimmer when is rainy day/wet road. Sometimes I even thaught my car light wasn't on (my old car, haven't received my k5 yet). Maybe also due to mist. I been once to genting when is heavy mist. Seriously, viewing distance is like 2-3 meter only. With high beam is even worst!

Maybe can try at dim parking lot?

High beam is not to be used during misty conditions. Thats why u have fog lights. If u use high beam in thick fog, ull just get a wall of light in front.

Bro, i have opposite feeling regarding Static Bending Lights. I am extremely amazed and happy as mine was just working fine. I kind of like when i straighten my steering wheel, the lights will go dim before it switch off.  smile.gif

But i have one question, when will the hill start assist activate? Does it depends on the degree of the slope or any slopes will do?
*
Good for you mate. Hill Start assist should activate at any degree of slope.

Just came back form Penang yesterday and wanted to share my fc (and also for those who are looking for some info on K5 fc). Not sure if this is comparable to other D-segment but this is what I got.

City/highway around 25%/75%
Mileage 830km and still got 2 bar left
pump ron95 for rm120 (around 63 liters i think) full tank

Started full tank in Segambut area, then go up to Penang (include BM and Bagan and stay overnight at Perai)
Next day go up to S. Petani and up to Jitra then come back to Perai to stay overnight.
Next day travel down to tapah only pump petrol.
Driving Style: light on pedal and max speed only about 100 to 110km/h.

Feels like the fc is better now compare when I first got the car. brows.gif

oh.. btw... found out something about the K5 the other day. (something I am not aware of at all)

I use the smart key to lock my car. All is good. Then wanted to check if my boot got lock properly or not cause got keep some expensive things inside. Press my fingers to open the boot and IT OPENS. I was like rclxub.gif , my boot cannot lock?? I got faulty car?? Makes me mad.gif and want to go see my SA next day and complain. Later I think, think, think, that MAYBE the boot can open is because I have the smart key in me and it can detect that I am nearby so it allow me to open the boot. So I pass the smart key to my wife and ask her to stand far away and I go try to open the boot again. Guess what.... It cant be open. This is one of the features that I dont know about. What a relief... thumbup.gif

Silly me blush.gif . Looks like the car is really smarter than me... rclxms.gif

hi guys. thanks for this topic. it really help me before finalizing the loan. it really down to K5 or Sportage. (my wife is big fan or sportage). BTW i've booked the K5 without her knowledge hahaha

For me resale value is secondary. You guys as the owner perhaps could share your experience:-

1. How the car perform in city driving? Is it slow, or okay? I've only managed to test drive in taman perumahan area . I work in KL and living in Putrajaya, commuting to KL via MEX hway. No issues on MEX. The traffic jam in city centre is concern
2. I've read that many of you put additional sound proofing material, is it really necessary?
3. For after sales service, is it true the parts are expensive and the availability is issue?
4. Maybe out of topic :- if your budget is around 150k, would you rather go for a european/japanese recon or brand new car?

Thanks guys..

silly you. this morning drive the K5 out and come back cannot find the car key. At first I though drop at pasar already(drop near the car might allow you to start engine and drive back home) But somehow back at home still can start the car. find very long time, only found it was under the seat.
1 thing bad about keyless is you might drop the key and lock using the door knob. You might still think the key is with you. People may just unlock your car and drive it away.

Errmm .... If key is in the cabin, you will hear a loud "eeeeeee" sound when you press the lock button on the door knob. In fact, I'm pretty sure we can't lock the car if the key is still in the cabin so don't know how you managed to lock it

1) It drives better than a Golf during traffic jams. At traffic lights, it may not out sprint a turbo hothatch but it is definitely capable of holding up against other 2.0 D segments, particularly when you use the paddle shifters to downshift.
2) tire noise is the most obvious but putting soundproofing doesn't hurt. In fact, it improves bass response.
3) ask again 5 years later smile.gif
4) depends on your priorities. For me, I'd take the K5 any time since its a good balance of Korean spec and closest-thing-to-a-conti driving dynamics

Agree wat kenso77 said .. if u wanna find the key , u can try to lock the car with the holder button , and if the key drop at market near ur car , after leave the key far , ur screen will show the key is not inside the car ..

1) in city it was not fast than golf or polo , but should be nicer than same segment car , n comfort to sit inside even facing traffic jam. u will see a lot of eyeing from other cars .. haha biggrin.gif
2) haven't go that fast yet , so the sound proof for me is no issue
3) 5 yrs warranty is great, and the wear and tear parts service charge is in the page20 posted by O2mini , thanks.
4) 150K if u like speed , go for euro car - golf. ( but not space as k5) if want comfort, value for $ is korean car K5 or sonata.. Japan car normal spec , famous at MY, but u pay more than wat u get .

just my 2 cents ..

1. K5 performe up to its standard. The pick up is kind of sluggish but something you expected from a 2.0 CC Segment D car. I drove to KL quite often too and I seriously dont mind stuck in jam as the interior is spacious and plus with the Infinity sound systems, a very enjoyable ride.

2. I am one of those user that went for additional sound proofing. I did it because I want to have a better listening experience when blasting those high bass music. Else, it is totally optional but pls dont expect to be as quiet as Camry or those Euro car.

3. Maybe you are right if you referring to few years back. Kia Parts are getting common found in Malaysia especially after the launch of Kia Forte. Dont foresee any issues on that.

4. If strictly based on 150k, you cant get a good euro segment car. So the next best thing is K5. Unless you willingly to push ur budget up to 180k, then you can truly have a large choices of Segment D cars to choose from. CKD Passat, Ford Mondeo and etc.

You wont be able to lock the door using the door knob if the key is in your car. I faced this problem few times when I just obtained my K5. But nowadays, I never take out my key out from my pocket because DONT HAVE TO. Thats the beauty of Keyless~!

I am in the same scenario as you. My wife also a big fan of the Sportage. Infact I like it too in the beginning but after test driving it and comparing it to the K5, I was sold. Nice as it is, the Sportage excellaration is a big dissapointment. Also I ask myself do I really need a 4WD in Klang Valley. FC would def be lousy comparing to a sedan. So I made up my mind. K5 it is. Waiting for wifey approval and of course bank approval later.

Added on May 13, 2012, 12:03 amBTW I got to play around with the K5 Kenso got for one week in Citta Mall car park. We were experementing the static light. Is really a cool feature. You can see the brightness of the corner when you are doing the turn. I am loving it.

I just done driving a Camry 2.0g from klang to kuchai lama both ways via npe. All I can comment would be Camry is much sluggish compared with k5, handling is totally disastrous if cruising more than 70KM/h over curvy or corners over the npe stretch.

Noise level is pretty similar with k5, maybe a little lesser due to the 16" rim. Perhaps the passenger would feel a bit more comfort, but for me the driver feels a bit more jumpy over the uneven road.

One thing I really surprised is the FC, it was showing average of 12.1km/liter which close to 8.3liter/100km! That I would say wow. Other than that, it was a poor driving experience compared with k5. Imho, accord 2.0 would also best Camry anytime.

that's the thing..sometime the "home ministry" have more say hahaha. BTW, thanks everyone for the reply. I'm currently based oversea and will be coming back to Malaysia soon (1-3 months time). Was in KL last week to arrange the transfer etc2. I went to local KIA showroom here (Muscat, Oman) perhaps want to share some pics of K5 offered here.
