ya D3s.
D800e + grip + extra batt, will come pretty near the price of a D3s.
and still will have less batt life, probably slower AF, obviously slower FPS.

To be frank, im started to lose patient with D800 too, no stock, + issue, some said no problem, but some said just ignorance by Nikon for denying the truth.

So the best option is to skip D800 and D4 for now.

A good, low shutter count - used D3s make many sense.

However, seriously thinking of getting a street camera, E.g. OM-D, first while waiting D800 to get fix and stock.

But not much advice my friend can giv eme, all DSLR gear head and non M43 fans

how much is OM-D?
imo, no point getting OM-D unless in future u want to maintain 2 different lens systems...cos for sure u wont be happy with just 1 lens on OM-D.

just go buy fuji X10 or anything similar can already.

as for me, i personally don't think the colour cast thing on the LCD is a problem.
well, i use the LCD for liveview manual focus. check histogram. check focusing and composition.
i never use it to check colour balance coz it's never accurate.

so a bit of colour cast is alright for me

Actually im shooting raw too, so for me the screen is mainly to check composition and focusing, the rest all PP can adjust.

Thats why. May as well delay the purchase and see whether nikon gonna fix it

Nikon Forever!*

Fuji focus a bit slow, play with it before and if Xpro1 same as per what review said, i rather get alternative.

Personally if i had your budget to splurge while waiting, i'd go for the fujifilm x100 as a street camera.. no need change lens.. just right for most outing also.. i dunno what will i do if i have 2 systems with interchangeable lens.. @_@ confused.. hahaha~

picture setting only affects what it will look like on the LCD, unless of cos u also record jpg.
raw file is not touched at all.

safer to pick up a proper grey card to make sure it's actually middle grey, but I figure it won't hurt to try biggrin.gif Do report back!

All my pics are from raw... overtime, they eat up my disk space so fast! ... luckily it is just D3100 and not D800.... haha. (one way of saying i cant afford a D800? tongue.gif)
But still i prefer raw as the ability to tweak many things is good!

amduser,
grey card or white balance card can buy for cheap.... no worries.

Hehe. Macro, insects, small items, products ... that's what I enjoy doing when I didn't go outing with friends.  (rarely go outing due to time constraints also  cry.gif )
Anyhow, it is easier coz can do it just at home & own time.  tongue.gif
Really inspired by those hardcore macro+insects photogs with awesome lenses ... can zoom in so much and with a lots of details intact ...
I'm just using cheapo setup + macro lens : d3100 + tamron SP AF90 + raynox filter ... taking macro+super macro is really damn tricky and tedious ...need patience.

Kit is nice to have, more importantly your pics turn out nice and you enjoy what you're doing.

Haha for my friend, it's as what you say la, patience, time, and the will to go out hunting. I'm sure you'll be able to go out hunting for stuff soon enough!
