What lens is that? A new lens like a AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 or lens like a AF-S 24mm f/1.4G would be fine and believable if you bring in for warranty. They will ask when you bought the lens and will probably fill up the warranty card base on that date. But if you bring in a lens like AF-S 17-35mm f/2.8 or AF 85mm f/1.4D to try and claim warranty with an unfilled warranty card, they will ask to see the receipt because those lenses have already been in the market for a long while.

The 17-55 f/2.8. What if I fill the warranty card and then no provide receipt? sweat.gif

I'm trying to get a long range remote shuttle release for my d7000. No one seems to be selling them. The Nikon remote has only up to 2m range.

e.g. basic Vello FreeWave Plus, or advanced Aputure Gigtube DSLR Wireless Viewfinder II Model GWII-N2.

Anyone get a hold of something similar and know where to get it?

So, do you fill the warranty card on the spot or you jot it in earlier? unsure.gif

Added on June 5, 2012, 1:40 pmWow I was going through some site regarding about solar filters and I bumped in to this

we could actually do a DIY Filter holder for the nikon 14-24

Rofl!
Interesting link for reading there. Thanks.

You can try but don't be surprised if Nikon also ask for receipt since the reason for the receipt is to determine when you actually bought your lens seeing that the 17-55mm f/2.8 has already existed in Nikon's lens lineup for quite a while.

17-55 is existed long ago, but it is still selling...

not like an ais manual lens, that is stop producing anymore...

so they should warrant the claim unquestionable =)

i claimed lots of lenses and flash.. but i do get rejected when wanna servicing my ais lens.. huhu.. reason? the lens is not producing anymore and lenses only got 10 years lifetime after it is produced

Hey, just need a quick opinion. I'm looking forward to the D600 or if that doesn't come out, a D700. The problem now is with my lens setup. I'm looking at my lens options right now and this is what I have.

Wide options are as follows :
16-35/4
17-35/2.8

Mid-zoom
24-70/2.8
28-70/2.8

Tele will be 70-200mm. The dilemma is that based on my shooting habits on DX, I use a lot of 17mm and 50mm, very little of the 35mm. To save you doing the maths, I use a lot of 25mm, and 70mm on FF. I wind up wishing I could go a little wider though. So, do I forget the mid range zoom, get a fast wide and a fast normal prime (50/1.8G), or just get the midrange zoom? I only have enough budget to cover the mid-range zoom (excluding tele, I'm replacing an older 80-200), so I can only have one, not both.

Also, I read that the distortion on the 16-35/4 is ridiculous, any user opinions?

for the price of a 24-70, you can get a 28 1.8G, 50mm 1.8G and 85mm 1.8G, and still have rm1k left in hand tongue.gif

Oh don't tempt me. I want a set of that too rclxm9.gif for lightweight travel, but shooting events sometimes can't give the luxury of swapping lenses sad.gif

Concert and event that time when low light (or for products etc when I need sharpness) I GG sad.gif That's why 2.8 zooms. Ya 24-70 is an 07 lens, but the mid-zoom I notice gets replaced every 9 years or so?

Haha, try a newer DX body, the difference in hi-ISO IQ and dynamic range in general would poison you kaw kaw.
