Morning guys ! Just brought myself a SGW yesterday night. So far the devices is awesome, able to personalize the home screen according to my style and best reflect to my personality too ! Everything seems fine, but there's one thing. Why i cant switch language from english to chinese while text messaging ? cuz sometimes need to mix english & chinese language.
Can anyone guide me on this ? And then the retailer ytd said they will help me submit the samsung warranty, but it will takes up to 1 week for me to receive notification from samsung. issit normal ? not on the spot get notification ? and then in what way samsung send the notification to me ? Thanks.

Btw, anyone know where can i get nice and quality SGW casing ? i've searching over LYN but seems like those are not met my expectation yet.

Btw, thanks for the keyboard apps. And SGW have auto LCD brightness adjustment like iphone 4 or ipod 4 those ? Cuz sometimes felt like its not so convenient to adjust the brightness each time i went different lighting places.

SMS to confirm whether your SGW warranty is registered. I think for auto brightness u can go to setting/display/brightness and
see if u can set to auto brightness.

Ohh, Means that i wont get any updates from samsung via SMS or Email notifications ?
I have to check it myself thru the SMS ?

anyone tried using 3g in this device? the battery seems to drain very fast on mine

im currently running on 3G on my network. 1st day using it, will have review later.

U want better battery life? Root it & flash custom rom.. battery life will turn better, stock rom suck at battery life

I feel stupid for asking this, but how do we bring up the old school dialler on my new Samsung W?

Clicking on Phone only brings up Logs, Contacts, Favourite and Groups. It's annoying when I want to call a new number.

Key pad is up there together with Contacts, Logs, Favorites,Groups. I think its hidden.
U jus need to slide the top panel to the right.

Guys, another question here. What's the different between GSM and WCDMA ? Issit mean 2G and 3G ?
and how to identify whether my SGW is running my internet data ? is there any icon displayed on top ? Cuz im not sign up to any data plan, so i scare it will automatic runs my data.

You will get SMS from Samsung when your e-warranty is done. But who knows, maybe they forgot, or misdelivered. Then you check it yourself.

If you run data, there's an icon on top with double arrows: either G, 3G, or H (if I'm not wrong).

I suspect there's auto-brightness but just no setting for it. If you look on the left of the earpiece, there are 2 things there. 1 is proximity sensor, the other surely is ambient light sensor?

Yea, i also think like that. but cant get the setting of it. Like today afternoon i use my SGW under bright sunlight area, the screen doesn't light up or auto adjust itself. hmmmmm....

Regarding the data icon, i also have a double arrow icon on there. But i set it to run GSM only in order to save battery, it Show E then 2 arrow pointing up and down respectively. Means i running my data ?

It's very normal. Switch to WiFi and you'll find it draining a lot slower. It's normal, for all phones perhaps. Depends on your usage too. If just standby, let fb twitter or viber those do some data transfer from time to time, it lasts. If you keep on surfing or download(data transferring), it drains hell a lot faster.

No setting for it. I got no idea why it isn't there. Supposed there are two sensors: proximity and light.

I'm still on stock rom but rooted and downclocked. Now normally data on, 12 hours take me around 50%. I think is quite good. Sometimes last even longer.

GSM (anything below 3G) WCDMA (anything above or equal to 3G *at least in our phone la~*)
GSM--> GPRS(56k)/EDGE(236k)
WCDMA--> 3G(384k)/HSDPA(14.4m for W)

Confirm tell you no auto brightness. Whether hardware problem or samsung OS problem, I got no idea.
Double arrow icon = data plan on. Go to settings, network and wireless, mobile network, untick packet data. Or just hold down power button and turn off data(2nd option). There may be times where that double arrow indicate wrongly, that is when you connected to data network, then it went out of service range, the icon will still be there but no data transfer can occur. Get it? For the sake of your credit, turn off your packet data now before you vomit to death.

The ambient light sensor is not present in the phone, so hardware problem.
