Latest is android 2.3.6 with baseband I8150DXLC1. Can be checked by settings>about phone>baseband version. Download kies from samsung website and the program will identify whether or not your firmware is updated  icon_rolleyes.gif

i see... btw, whats kies ? issit something like "desktop manager" ? Cant wait to get my SGW tonight ! rclxm9.gif

No ICS update. If you want ICS, go for HTC One V. But it's 1GHz instead of 1.4 inside SGW. Its camera looks like is a little better than SGW too (BLI sensor, I'm not sure on this though) and of course, a better built than SGW with a metal unibody design.
Kies is a phone manager used on PC to synchronise, update or copy files to the phone.

Hmmm, not quite like HTC brand actually, still prefer samsung. Alright ! thanks for u guys info !

Morning guys ! Just brought myself a SGW yesterday night. So far the devices is awesome, able to personalize the home screen according to my style and best reflect to my personality too ! Everything seems fine, but there's one thing. Why i cant switch language from english to chinese while text messaging ? cuz sometimes need to mix english & chinese language.
Can anyone guide me on this ? And then the retailer ytd said they will help me submit the samsung warranty, but it will takes up to 1 week for me to receive notification from samsung. issit normal ? not on the spot get notification ? and then in what way samsung send the notification to me ? Thanks. rclxms.gif

Btw, anyone know where can i get nice and quality SGW casing ? i've searching over LYN but seems like those are not met my expectation yet. biggrin.gif

Chinese text get Touchpal or Google Pinyin from Playstore. U need to push your reseller to register your warranty asap.
Also need to SMS your IMEI as per below-
PC (space) IMEI NUMBER

Send to

33802 for Celcom
62002 DiGi / Maxis / Hotlink
*
I will push them if i havent receive any notification within this week.
wana ask SMS this is for what purpose actually ? and what will happened if my reseller register late for my warranty ?
Btw, thanks for the keyboard apps. And SGW have auto LCD brightness adjustment like iphone 4 or ipod 4 those ? Cuz sometimes felt like its not so convenient to adjust the brightness each time i went different lighting places.

SMS to confirm whether your SGW warranty is registered. I think for auto brightness u can go to setting/display/brightness and
see if u can set to auto brightness.
*
Ohh, Means that i wont get any updates from samsung via SMS or Email notifications ?
I have to check it myself thru the SMS ?

Guys, another question here. What's the different between GSM and WCDMA ? Issit mean 2G and 3G ?
and how to identify whether my SGW is running my internet data ? is there any icon displayed on top ? Cuz im not sign up to any data plan, so i scare it will automatic runs my data.

You will get SMS from Samsung when your e-warranty is done.  But who knows, maybe they forgot, or misdelivered.  Then you check it yourself.
If you run data, there's an icon on top with double arrows:  either G, 3G, or H (if I'm not wrong).
I suspect there's auto-brightness but just no setting for it.  If you look on the left of the earpiece, there are 2 things there.  1 is proximity sensor, the other surely is ambient light sensor?
*
Yea, i also think like that. but cant get the setting of it. Like today afternoon i use my SGW under bright sunlight area, the screen doesn't light up or auto adjust itself. hmmmmm.... hmm.gif

Regarding the data icon, i also have a double arrow icon on there. But i set it to run GSM only in order to save battery, it Show E then 2 arrow pointing up and down respectively. Means i running my data ? blink.gif

It's very normal. Switch to WiFi and you'll find it draining a lot slower. It's normal, for all phones perhaps. Depends on your usage too. If just standby, let fb twitter or viber those do some data transfer from time to time, it lasts. If you keep on surfing or download(data transferring), it drains hell a lot faster.
No setting for it. I got no idea why it isn't there. Supposed there are two sensors: proximity and light.
I'm still on stock rom but rooted and downclocked. Now normally data on, 12 hours take me around 50%. I think is quite good. Sometimes last even longer.
GSM (anything below 3G) WCDMA (anything above or equal to 3G *at least in our phone la~*)
GSM--> GPRS(56k)/EDGE(236k)
WCDMA--> 3G(384k)/HSDPA(14.4m for W)
Confirm tell you no auto brightness. Whether hardware problem or samsung OS problem, I got no idea.
Double arrow icon = data plan on. Go to settings, network and wireless, mobile network, untick packet data. Or just hold down power button and turn off data(2nd option). There may be times where that double arrow indicate wrongly, that is when you connected to data network, then it went out of service range, the icon will still be there but no data transfer can occur. Get it? For the sake of your credit, turn off your packet data now before you vomit to death.  laugh.gif
*
Good information bro ! Already turned it off, dammit ! Means im running my data whole day today, DAFUQ !
Anyway, checked my bill. Not much charges so far... @.@

Oh ya, just now i went to task manager and clear RAM. After clear RAM there's a small window box saying how many Apps are cleared. i noticed that after i cleared RAM, when i press return to home screen. It lags, for about 1 or 2 sec delay. Why issit happened and someone facing this ? blink.gif

i think its because after you cleared memory , all the widgets and apps are killed. when you return to home screen, everything is activated again so you face some lag during the activation. just sharing my thought biggrin.gif
*
Hmmm... Yea, i not bother it so much since its not causing problem so far.
Btw, i just downloaded the "Google Pinyin", but how can i add it into the spacebar swipe changing language setting ?
it seems like i dont have option for the google pinyin when i go spacebar wipe setting there. hmm.gif
each time i wana switch language i need to press 1sec on the text paper, a box pop up and then manually change.

oh, cm9 is a custom rom and flashing a custom rom is like upgrading it but this will void your warranty. i also dont know the keyboard thing, after change to google pinyin , i can't change it back to keyboard, must deactivate via setting -__-

then do some research on internet biggrin.gif
*
Can, i use google pinyin keyboard then can switch back to samsung keyboard. you need to hold ur finger on the text blank area then wait the box to pop up, select input method then can change already. But this is the manually way, i juz hope can switch by only swiping the spacebar key.

Besides void my warranty, any others side effect to the phone if doing the flashing stuff ? blink.gif

if you followed all the steps correctly and did backup , no problems at all. when you wan to claim warranty , just unroot and flash back to stock rom  thumbup.gif
