No ICS update. If you want ICS, go for HTC One V. But it's 1GHz instead of 1.4 inside SGW. Its camera looks like is a little better than SGW too (BLI sensor, I'm not sure on this though) and of course, a better built than SGW with a metal unibody design.
Kies is a phone manager used on PC to synchronise, update or copy files to the phone.

You will get SMS from Samsung when your e-warranty is done.  But who knows, maybe they forgot, or misdelivered.  Then you check it yourself.
If you run data, there's an icon on top with double arrows:  either G, 3G, or H (if I'm not wrong).
I suspect there's auto-brightness but just no setting for it.  If you look on the left of the earpiece, there are 2 things there.  1 is proximity sensor, the other surely is ambient light sensor?

It's very normal. Switch to WiFi and you'll find it draining a lot slower. It's normal, for all phones perhaps. Depends on your usage too. If just standby, let fb twitter or viber those do some data transfer from time to time, it lasts. If you keep on surfing or download(data transferring), it drains hell a lot faster.
No setting for it. I got no idea why it isn't there. Supposed there are two sensors: proximity and light.
I'm still on stock rom but rooted and downclocked. Now normally data on, 12 hours take me around 50%. I think is quite good. Sometimes last even longer.

Confirm tell you no auto brightness. Whether hardware problem or samsung OS problem, I got no idea.
Double arrow icon = data plan on. Go to settings, network and wireless, mobile network, untick packet data. Or just hold down power button and turn off data(2nd option). There may be times where that double arrow indicate wrongly, that is when you connected to data network, then it went out of service range, the icon will still be there but no data transfer can occur. Get it? For the sake of your credit, turn off your packet data now before you vomit to death. 

i think its because after you cleared memory , all the widgets and apps are killed. when you return to home screen, everything is activated again so you face some lag during the activation. just sharing my thought

i met the same thing after flashed to cm9 

oh, cm9 is a custom rom and flashing a custom rom is like upgrading it but this will void your warranty. i also dont know the keyboard thing, after change to google pinyin , i can't change it back to keyboard, must deactivate via setting -__-


then do some research on internet

if you followed all the steps correctly and did backup , no problems at all. when you wan to claim warranty , just unroot and flash back to stock rom

U need to push reseller to register warranty for u. Then u can check by SMS to confirm warranty.
