Hi guys.
Am worried with 1 of my aros.

It has a serious DE problem, especially on one side of its eye.
Consequently, it has started to become bottom feeder (i.e getting food when it has dip to the bottom of the tank).

How do I rectify the problem?

What's even worrier is because it has to scrunch to the side to scoop up the food. Am afraid that it might injure parts of its body.

Advice please, thanks

Genetic comes first bro. If it's level4 now, then it shud be either HB or SHB...
But no harm trying...You can put it in a white fiber tank with 24 hours white lights on. We call it WTT - White Tank Treatment...

I heard its hard to cure DE...but you can always try.

Lower water level, no tank mate, feed floating food & cover the front tank.

Or best get a FGT.

It might cure but some say it will come back once you put them back in aquarium tank.

This is mostly due to Arowana genetic in DE.

many thanks to both of you for the reply, it is much appreciated.

So it is recommended to lower water level, but by how much?
Now my fish can swim fine, the water level (if you were to stack the same aro, you can have three of them, and still fully submerged in the water).

And what if FGT?

fibre glass tank.

i also put my aro inside FGT black one. then my aro DE reduce by a lot. but later i put in aquarium happen again. but a little bit.

PS: if you put your aro in black tank your aro will get darker.

edited: my aro will get extremely shy when put in FGT compare to if put in aquarium.

Yup. Agree wth u bro. Genetic comes 1st. Now it's about a year old n approximately 10inches. I'm currently using white background n white light as wtt. Hehe guess it's an alternative for white fiber tank. Hard to get one here. But just wondering, until whn do I need to use d white background? I mean is there a certain duration of months/ yrs or certain size reached before we stop d wtt? Is there a certain age or size dat d aro will stop increasing its shine? Sorry for asking too much bt I'm curious hehe

I think mine is an FGT, white color.
Just wondering, what is the ideal water level for my aro?

My aro is +-10inches long, ages 2+ years

Hmm..What we do is to keep the golden aro till the size of 16" then only change to dark color tank to further improve the base color intensity.
But seems like your aro's base color also getting more intense, then just let it be like what it is now lo...Just that no need to on the white light for 24 hours after 16" to avoid algae..

My Arowana don't like pellet. So, I feed it to my Meal Worm / Super Worm.

After that feed the MW/SW to your Arowana. Result sama-sama blush.gif

just found out about this thread.

i have a arowana for the past 4 years and grew it in a 4 ft tank.

i feed them arowana food  pellet ( cant remeber brand name) and occasionally frog.

nowadays, its always hungry and seldom eats the pellet if i dont feed it frog.

is there other live food i can feed him?
*
How do you guys train your aro to eat pellets?

I bought the small packet (RM3.50) as per the suggestion from @amirolzaris, and fed it to my aro.
But no takers, and it still floating (i fed them +- an hour ago), LOL.
They occasionally bite on it, and spit it out again, sigh..

Thank God haven't bought the one in the box (it's RM 32 i think), rugi ler..
