Hi guys!

I am taking an interest in this hobby, especially since my dad has also taken up this hobby (hm not actually hobby, I'd say, as he is involve in selling arowanas for about a year plus now).

I'd like to join in the discussion, if that is alright with you guys smile.gif

Hm, I heard that droopy-eyed Arowana is not very nice.

Could you guys please advise how to 'cure' this?

But i have to top up a little on this part... worms, feeder fish and market prawn and ghost shrimp, though is wide variety but you are still only giving your aro protein... my point is, it is not as simple as giving your fish food only...

With regards to the quoted, do you mean that aro would need other nutrients besides protein? Am not sure what other types of food that we can give aro..

Need some advice here.

Say, there is this aro. 1 year half old.
+-30 inches long.
Blue crossback.

She's always one of the quiet type. Never aggresive.

However, this few days, I have noticed a sudden change in behavior.

She seems a bit anxious, and at times, she would jump, and it causes noise and ripple in the water.

What could be causing the problem?

Hi leggedy,

Below are two pictures of my aro :

Sorry, no video.

You were enquiring about the size. It is +-30 inches.
Do you it is a short/tall for her age?

My aro wasn't like this before. She used to be very calm, and were not anxious before.

Nothing much have changed in the way I managed her; same diet, same routine.
The only thing that I can may caused this problem is, it is feeling lonely.

This is because is she used to have two other members (ikan lampam) which shares the aquarium.
Now no more dy..

to my experience 1 and a half years old aro could never hit 30inches..so i was surprise that u said 30inches..

by the look from the pics, i believe it is somewhere 16inches..

if ur aro is fine, with mates or without mates wouldnt be an issue..

how is ur lighting regime?

ur first pics show signs of drop eye or frightened..

and due to the pic isnt clear, i cant tell is it protruding anus or not..

lampang is much likely to be afraid of ur aro..lol
*
LOL you may be right, on the size.
It's more like 30cm, not 30inches =p

Lighting regime?
Am not too sure whether I understood the question very well.
Anyways, I am using a white flourescent lamp. The light is switched on at night (7pm-7am). At other time, the lamo iss switched off.

Frightened?
But of what? I am really concern that she is afraid of something, but couldn't make out what makes her feel that way.

Protruding anus?
Do you mean that she's jumpy because she needs to mate? Hohoh isn't she a bit young to feel that way?

ur lighting regime should be fine..

no idea what it is frightened of....can show pics? a pics of face both side, body, tail..as well as a pic of her anus (her ass)..lol

protruding anus means their anus is in a protruding outwards shape which is abnormal could be due to several issue..
*
LOL looking at girls' ass means we are just being boys.
But looking at an animal's ass, hmmmmm..... LOL

Sorry as I could not provide the pics now, as the aro is in parents house.
I am living at another place.

Will surely provide the pics when I visit my parents.

Anyways, what is 'chu' ? I'm very curious to know what that means..

EDIT: I have found out what chu means. Now am figuring out what type is my fish's chu, LOL

Wondering, is cold dried shrimp a good diet for aro?

Or is it better to let the dried shrimp to be left to room temperature, \
before it is fed to the aro?

Hi guys,
haven't been here for a while, kinda busy.

Am wondering, what is the usual lifespan for arowanas ?

And is the size of arowana dependent on the aquarium,
or based on the genes of the parentage?

My arowana suffered from cloudy eye and after I did WC and put some salt in, the next day its eye globe punctured and the eye sunken in.

Is there any way to cure this?

The eye can still move and the fish is still very active but it seems like it cant see with that eye.

please advice!
