You can readjust the Z-axis step_per_mm from the EEPROM of the firmware by using Gcode M92 Z??? or follow the instruction here http://reprap.org/wiki/Calibration#X_.26_Y...mm_calculations

Some math example of how to find the correct step per mm, the correct step per length is = (correct length) divided by (printed/physical length) multiply by (current steps per mm for that axis shown in EEPROM)

If you are using Repetier-host, you can easily change the EEPROM setting for your connected printer from the config menu without using any Gcode.

Besides that, I am surprised you can get the X and Y axis accurate without calibration. Also you might want to print an object with a hole in it because there are cases where the inner diameter is inaccurate while the outer diameter is accurate. You won't be able to adjust for the inner diameter because that will affect the outer diameter accuracy unless you compromise by calibrating with the tolerance, so your outer and inner will be say 0.25 mm larger for a tolerance of 0.5 mm.

Z axis has been calibrated as far as movement is concerned. Ie if i send a command to move 10 mm it will move 10mm up. Only when printing. Maybe the acceleration during printing is high causing the steppers to skip step.

X and y has already been calibrated. X y steps is at 80.4 which is very close to the theoretical 80 from just calculations. Holes are off as u said. The diameter is consistently off by 0.4mm for a 10mm hole. I thought it was normal since you told me yours was off as well.

Is there a way to input gcode commands into repetier? I like it but the lack of ability to send direct gcode command is a major downside for me. Im using pronteface for now with the cura engine as the slicer.

If the Z-axis stepper motor is skipping a few steps then, the motor could be underpowered. You might have to turn up the Z-axis step stick variable resistor to increase the stepper motor power. It could also be due to the step stick over heating, so make sure it gets a heatsink and a fan to cool the electronics. Other problem could be due to the threaded rod and linear bearings that needs oiling. Other than that, make sure the rods are aligned, the misalignment can cause a jam on your Z-axis.

Yes, its normal and its good to know so next time you can factor an additional 0.4 mm in the design to compensate for inaccuracy.

As for the repetier-host, isn't the Gcode input bar that says "Gcode:" just below the "Manual Control" tab? sweat.gif

hehe. did not notice the gcode command area. biggrin.gif will start switching to it!

I had underpower issues using single stepper driver. so i resorted to using two seperate driver. and the skipping is gone. also have a fan pointing towards the RAMPs board. The rods are aligned as best as i could. Still figuring it out. For now am waiting on my thermistor for the heat bed. I dont have that yet so the heatbed isnt on, large prints are peeling off. so stuck with small prints for now.

its fine. i'll update once the printer is running as good as yours biggrin.gif

Sure, just keep us up to date. nod.gif

Also on a side note, you may want to insulate or cool as much as possible the PLA parts that are holding the heater bed or near it especially from the heat because PLA tends to soften and deform from as little as 50 Deg C.

Good for you, in case you didn't know the Igus branch in Singapore couldn't be bothered with small orders. Lets see if this one does the same... hmm.gif

By the way, I just made a video on casting out tin-lead solder using plaster mold that was shaped by a 3D printed part. Enjoy... thumbup.gif

I remember you can request for samples from their website.

Guess what, I went ahead and ordered a few samples... Lets see their response in a few days cool2.gif

You guys should try out their sample request too brows.gif

[UPDATE]

Just got their web reply on the sample request and guess what... laugh.gif

Yup, it comes in a reel too but that was a year ago when I bought it. At that time, I was unable to find any supplier willing to sell small quantities, so I am left with that option.

Nice suggestion with the pos express, will try that some time.

Also, I am getting 15 meters of GT2 belting from China and if anyone want some you can combine with the Bowden tubing. The belting is as pricy as the Teflon tubing.  sweat.gif

The shop I suggested didn't have gt2 belt and metal pulley.the pricing is also bloody expensive.I'm going to look for others today.how much are you planning to sell your gt2 belt?

Super nice! rclxms.gif worth the effort! rclxm9.gif

Its all in ABS or PLA? Planning to migrate to this frame or building another one from scratch?

Well, I guess you now know how I felt about some suppliers. sweat.gif

I am planning to sell the GT2 belt at RM 25 per meter and it can be cut to any specific length, up to 10 meters currently. I will be frank with you, the GT2 belting is for my own maintenance and development for a new printer. The price I listed includes a reasonable margin for my service to survive and also for the development of that new printer. I may not sell that new printer I am developing but if I get enough support through my printing service, I may consider expanding into selling 3D printers. Besides, I am not really earning much to grow this business at all, just barely surviving. sweat.gif

Anyway, I would suggest DarkTenno since he has some reprap parts to let go and I don't stock the pulleys because I can print them. biggrin.gif

I just check 3Dprinter.my for their pricing, they having discount... Go get the 20 meter one at http://3dprinter.my/abante/pulley-and-belt...idth-open-ended brows.gif

I make 0 income from reprap as most of the time I print them because I like to see the printer printing lol, I can spend most of time in front of my printer and watch it print this thing never stop to amaze me smile.gif. but occasionally I do help printing stuff for my friend with reasonable fee just to cover maybe a few extra spool of PLA tongue.gif

side note, order some new heat break for my mendel would take a while to get to me, hopefully it don't get stuck in Christmas backlog, haven't really try to dismantle the hotend yet been lazy these day well that also maybe due to I still have 2 working printer in hand

I was thinking i could make some money out of this, but realize there's too many people doing that and the market is too small to sustain.
