Bananapi is about 35C. Cubietruck is 50C. Although both are using Allwinner A20 CPU, but bananapi cpu is mounted at the bottom of the board. Maybe this is the advantage. By touching on the plastic casing, bananapi is about the same as raspberrypi. Odroid is way too hot.

Decided to go with banana pi instead, since I want to use it as nas for its gigabit port
The more read about C1's idle temp going from 50 - 70 C, the more I worry I about the lifespan since I plan to have it online 24/7 sweat.gif

Other than raspberrypi, we have now bananapi, orangepi, biggrin.gif

If you want to build a headless server with bananapi, I'd like to recommend you the debian image from here:

Anyone using RasberryPi, BananaPi whatever FruityPi to build a robot? I am thinking to start some project, but don't know what yet. Must be something more physical instead of just a PC doing a specific tasks.

Here are your choices for remote:
1. Use your TV remote if your TV's HDMI supports CEC. eg. For Samsung TV's the CEC feature is called AnyNet+
2. Use your mobile phone, download and install Yatse
3. Plug-in a wireless keyboard based on RF (e.g. Logitech K400R or Logictech mk330). I don't recommend bluetooth or IR as these need line of sight.

I already have a logitech harmony remote, just need to import the settings once the ir receiver/remote I ordered arrived
My only problem with HDMI CEC (VierraLink for my Panasonic) is that it doesn't always work right away
Sometime I need to turn off the off/or even change different input before getting it to work,
Obviously this depends on your TV brand if they're really compatible or not
Yatse/Kodi official remote is nice but I prefer something with tactile feedback

You can build a webserver, mail server, torrent server, download / ftp server, samba file server ...etc. Many users will be able to guide, if you can specify your interest.
