i want to build dlna server for home. so my ps3 can access my movie file

If you search on raspberrypi.org, there are quite a few of step by steps setup guide on dlna server setup.
To access remote movie file, setup a samba file server should be good enough. Being said so, I don't use dlna to stream movie. Maybe you can share your experience after testing.
Anyway, raspberrypi lan port speed is only 100 Mbits, maybe an issue to full HD movie.

100 Mbits is good enough for HD streaming
I only streamed 1080p & 720p videos from my NAS all these while & never faced any issue before.

nice setup.

for hanging issue, try other OS builds or other power adapter/cable

bro ziadi
thanks for the suggestion, will try that.
Will start from NOOBS afresh and a new power adaptor.
The micro USB supplying power is not firm right now. May be as you suggested this could be the culprit.

The fan draws at least 0.2-0.3A. Best get a 5V2A power supply.

Thanks for the compliment bro. laugh.gif
This thread is so quiet nowsaday.

I bought two units, one as a office nas server, another one might as well setup as kodi media centre.
Thought wanted to use it as daily browsing and youtube machine, well, the speed is still not up to my expectation. hmm.gif

This hack applicable to the B+ and Pi2 model only IIANM.

sudo nano /boot/config.txt

add this line without quote
"max_usb_current=1"

BTW, credit to those who found this hack and kudos to the engineers, simply amazing piece of hardware. flex.gif
The HDD is wakeable even after it went into sleep mode, I'm impressed because my PC can't make it, always have to replug the USB cable.

My adapter is Samsung S2 original charger. 5v2a to be exact. brows.gif

Hi guys, can you let me know which USB WIFI adapter with antenna provides access point support for the RPi B+? I am doing a hotspot project, and therefore I needed to have a good coverage/range, and able to support a high number of clients.

I'm currently using the edimax ew-7811un nano adapter, it can be set up as an AP, but the range is only 10-15meters max, therefore I needed to find an adapter that has a higher gain, with antenna.

This project is not that feasible, might as well buy a ready made AP rather than home made ones due to lack of drivers and supported devices.

It's a captive portal project. I wanted a low cost AP+captive portal instead of getting a server router which costs several hundreds.

Just go with this UFO. RM 3xx
Great hardware, robust; great software, manipulable. Able to handle up to 100 clients according to the manual.

It comes with hotspot portal I see, you need to google more to find out.
