I wonder if you sell any GSM module and GPS module? I'm in need of both of it.
btw, if anyone know of any good GSM and GPS module(preferably under RM600), gimme the link ya

QUOTE(Ubitap @ Apr 8 2014, 09:17 PM) We have GPS module with USB interface. It's easier to use with RPi compared to GPS with UART interface. It's also compatible with gpsd - a GPS service daemon. will putting the GPS at the usb makes it slower or less performant? We don't have GSM module though, sorry This post has been edited by wcypierre: Apr 8 2014, 09:51 PM |

QUOTE(Ubitap @ Apr 8 2014, 10:20 PM) I don't think so. The only downside that I can think of is, it uses one USB port. So you only have one more left for others. As my project needs a performant GPS so I'll think about it.But it does save you from a lot of hassle setting it up. It has built-in antenna, so you do not need to buy external antenna. One other thing to consider, how far do you want to place the GPS from your Pi? The cable is about 2 meter or so. So this is the limitation. 2 meter is more than enough. |

QUOTE(Ubitap @ Apr 23 2014, 08:23 PM) Opps...you should've ask me the other day. I have spares and can give you one. Forgotten bout it because the GSM and GPS module are in the main priority at that time. I'm using both. Both of them have drivers loaded in the latest version of Raspbian. They work out of the box. So both of them work well with RPI. I think on paper, RTL8192CU has the upper hand. It can do max 300mbps data transfer rate for 802.11n while the 5370 is doing 150mbps. In real life, whether there is any performance difference, I don't know, I don't see any. But then, I don't have an n router, so I'm stuck at a lower speed. So you don't have one now? |

btw, the gps that you sold works, pretty easy to setup since I'm a daily linux user and parsing the NMEA data is quick easy for my case, but the initial lookup time is too long(took me >10 minutes to get the coordinates......or every gps are like that?) :/

QUOTE(Ubitap @ Apr 23 2014, 09:14 PM) Yes, I have. The small 5V piezo buzzer. About 12mm diameter. Google image "5V buzzer" to see the pic. Is that what you need? Not sure. gotta ask my friend because I'm not really a hardware guy Should be around RM2 to RM4 if you can find it nearby. If you are willing to come over to collect, by all means. I'll give you one for free. 10 minutes is too long. Does it happen all the time? Did you try it outdoor? I'm assuming you are using gpsd. I remember sometime I have to kill gpsd and restart it again to get a lock. Yeah, the initial lock is very slow. We're trying it indoor but still it shouldn't take that long though. For my usecase, I need the gps to be up 24/7 so needing to restart it is not really an option for my project btw, if you don't mind answering, what is the difference between http://components.ubitap.com/prototyping#&...637&id=32405462 and breadboard? QUOTE(Ubitap @ Apr 25 2014, 09:13 AM) This board plugs directly onto the GPIO pin of RasPi - smaller footprint. It "breaks out" the pin and the pinout is printed on the board. So making connection is easier. The downside is, you have to solder the components. monday? Using a breadboard, you still have to make connection between the GPIO pins to the breadboard. Either using a ribbon cable or jumper wires. Breadboard has spring clips, you don't have to solder the components. Unfortunately I'm away. Will be back only on Monday. Sorry Anyway, thanks for the buzzer |

Hi guys, I was feeling a lil bit bored recently so I've set up a mirror server for us to download the multiple linux distros(noobs, raspbian, pidora, openelec, raspbmc and etc).
Server is from the US but the speeds are pretty good afaik. Link: http://raspbian.wcypierre.com/images/raspberrypi/ |

QUOTE(C-Fu @ May 2 2014, 12:09 AM) I have a good build that I wanna share, if you can host it how big is it? I still have around 23gb of storage. If you want me to host it, give me the file and the md5 and/or sha1 checksum of the file. It's a preconfigured XBMC openelec + all game roms and emus + opensource games like doom + something else I forgot, all from a frontend menu. But I haven't touched that thing for a month, so maybe some bugs have been updated now. I made the image to fit my 8GB card, configured to allow malaysian hardwares like USB PS-like joypad and wifi adapter and stuff. |

QUOTE(C-Fu @ May 2 2014, 12:35 AM) I believe it's either around 4GB or less than 8GB, I can't remember as I have to stop for a bit before starting to work on it again in June. sure. Just drop a link and I'll upload it to my server. or probably you could just go make a website and publish it I could probably just share it as it is, and let you guys try it out and see. Mine is based on RetroPie+EmulationStation, but all preconfigured/added and modified a bit. I call it..... XBMC-Fu |

Ini tak boleh la......... now living expenses so high, so many babies tak boleh lah now left around 22gb, after I finish mirroring this thing should have left around 10+gb |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ May 3 2014, 11:59 PM) I haven't really grasp the idea of the compute board. Does it allow me to attain RTOS (real-time) with RPi? It is meant for those who wanted to commercialize their products. Raspberry Pi in itself is more of a development board though, it is not really so suitable to be used in production mode as you may not need hdmi, rca those ports available as it only wastes more electricity than doing good if you're not using it. So, compute module is made for those who wanted more control over the boards, so you can build your own io board, and as long as it has the ddr2 sodimm connector for laptop, it can be connected with the compute module to become a microcontroller.Wow many headsinks. Lol. I hope it's gonna be fun. Ubitap I'm a frequent visitor to your website. I see that you have a few more additions that could be used for RPi, or I've just never realised you have so many sensors on sale. Lol.. May I ask, based on your experience, what's the preferred breadboard to use with RPi? Full size or mini sized? I already have several full size breadboard at home though. If I am using full size breadboard, should I have gotten the T shape breakout kit or get the normal breakout kit + breadboard power module? In short, it allows you to have a higher degree of customization. For the real time part, I don't think so. |
