not necessarily for wide rims only... the wide rims only strengthen the case of wider tyres as the pro riders was refusing to ride them even though there was statistical figures that 25 rolls better...

the wide rims offer better interfacing on the 25 while it still works to reduce rolling resistance on our normal 19-21mm rims...

saw my friend using the 25mm tyres.

every time put on/taking off the rims will have to deflate the tyres a bit as the brake not wide enough, even open to the max. quite inconvenient.

is it common or depends on the brake models?

it happens to all brakes and depends on how you adjust how close your calipers get to your rims, unless you can leave with a lever that you have to pull a lot to engage the brakes...

it depends on tires too as some can come out with a bit of a yank... some requires a bit of deflation which is very rare...

i've been on 'em for quite long... feels quite good to me in the bends... and i had lousier 25 on my bike then my previous 23's...

some people worry about sidewall flex on the 25's.. but i think the general issue with them is that they utilize the same pressure on the 25's as they did the 23's...

I got some 25's schwalbe skids the other day,got them cheap so I thought why not give the bigger tire size a go?

My opinion:-
25's a lot more comfortable to ride than the conti 23's I was using. The Scott Foil is incredibly stiff thus take a toll on my body even after a short ride. The 25s are a lot more plush and seem to absorb vibrations more.

My impression is that they seem to add ever so slightly more rolling resistance and going around the bends does not feel as precise as the 23s. Also a bit harder to remove the wheels due to the brake pads.

Have decided to go with 23s in front wheel and 25s in the back. That should be a reasonable compromise for me.

Oh, anything interesting about me??. Well RM29xx lor for bike, stand, rear ilumenox light, pedals, bottle cage and plastic bottle. RM2xx for the Met crossover helmet that has some round light behind it. Not sure if this package is fairly priced, cheap or otherwise?

QUOTE(miaopurr @ May 14 2012, 10:01 AM)
usually they barricade the transition area, no problem. a lot of people will be there, so the bikes are safe.

QUOTE(butthead @ May 14 2012, 10:15 AM)

the transition areas in any of the multisport events are usually guarded and barricaded like miaopurr mentions... it's possible but not easy for the bikes to get stolen as the event organizers do get people to watch over that area as it will be a lot filled with a lot of high priced equipment for a short period of time...

That's a relief. Thanks.

Just Noob thinking that some joker can come in with a rm600 bike, swim like mad to reach shore and take off with a RM 15K bike, detour off and never be seen again. Maybe they number the bike stands with the same number given to each participant.

!;30 refers to Bike time only.. I am weak on bike.. so is run and swim haha..

btw don't worry bike getting stolen, especially me. They would target those nice nice trek, cervelo, disc wheel etc.. those wheels alone cost more than my bike edi

i guess a tiagra equiped bike is already around RM2.5k at least...so, it is more or less there i believe...

usually, i see some events provide a race number for the bikes as well for identification purposes i think...

but anyways... competitors are registered with their real personal details and usually a photocopy of their own IC is given... they can still be tracked down and is that worth all for just a bike that costs no more than RM50k at max?

might as well you steal it as a spectator rather than a competitor....at least no one can find you after that...

nobody is born to be a mark allen or javier gomez... hell... i'd be happy to have lance armstrong's tri form at the age of 39 anyday...

well... that's what we said about car thief stealing mercs and nissan murano instead of the cheap cars... but yet, perodua kancils still go missing... despite the more expensive cars being around...

you never know what they are thinking...

speaking of tris...

there is this savageman triathlon in the US... one of the toughest and has the steepest climb in the history of triathlons... a nut numbingly short but steep 31% max and average 25% gradient climb called westernport wall...

a picture says a thousand words

peeps have to go sideways and zig zag all over the road to climb it...

Just need to keep in mind that those bikes under 1k often comes only in a single size. So if you're a rather small sized of a rather big sized person, you may have problems with the bike sizing for longer rides.

True... Even many below 2k bike comes in 2 sizes in range of 15"-17" and claim those are malaysian average size hence dont or seldom bring larger sizes but few lbs can help with the ordering of larger size tho

that is crazy ridiculous... you see the old dude spinning away and the bike is almost not moving... but makes sense to climb a 32% grade...

i know of this place in kampung sungai penchala... steep as hell as well but i don't know what percentage of gradient it is... definitely not climbable on the road bike... needs a mountain bike to get up...

there is also this climb up at bukit lanjan which has a very steep section but still climbable.. but now guarded by security guards...

XDS unsure... but i think Nexus might be owned by gin huat but manufactured in taiwan or something like that...

there is an XDS carbon tech in taiwan... but not sure if they are related to the XDS sold here...

it depends on the brand of your calipers and the amount of pistons within the caliper body to determine the type of pad to use as there are locking mechanisms and spring clips that latches onto the pad itself... it's not a matter of size..
