Yeah siyah uses hardcore's mdnie settings that may not suite everyone. Touch sensitivity is something i like about siyah and redpill. Dunno neak got or not.
*
NEAK takda kot. Was on 1.3.3x and 1.4, and was having those swipe notification issues I mention. Patutla..

Now on Siyah so much easier to swipe. Just like u said, it's all good.

Hmm Siyah's color (apart from brightness) is not closer to stock colors?

My gf I9100 non-G also have problems when flash custom ROM into it.
I'm not expert but I used to flash a lot of ROMs in my own GalaxyS2.
But these 2 days when I flash either CheckROMv4 or V6 into my gf S2, the phone keeps acting weirdly, sudden hang and freeze, market crash constantly, notification bar freeze etc etc.

I always wipe everything before flash, sometimes twice, I even format /system /data /sdcard /emmc separately.
Is there a problem when directly flash 2.3.6 ROM into 2.3.3 stock ROM?

Really headache, stick back to XWKF1 for her for now. doh.gif
*
Try flashing a 2.3.6 stock rom then only flash custom rom.

ok. which to download, the package or just the kernel?
what is flash over VR?

XWLA4
Android 2.3.6

This package has: PDA: XWLA4| Modem/phone: XXKI3| CSC: XEUKH2
Download: Download

XWLA4 Stock Kernel: Download

if flash with the package file, CSC change will it disrupt the reception/connection?

Haha I change between Siyah and NEAK, can't remember what stock looks like as well tongue.gif

But yeah, I notice it but it doesn't bother me much. I'm ok with stock saturation as well iirc

Siyah seems to have a good balance in standby battery and usage battery as well, imo

CR V6 is super unstable for me. Mess up my phone. Have to be careful what kernel you flash. Have to flash twice to fix market prob and what not. Need to flash so many patches to make it compatible with latest jkay. So frustrated end up going back to stock rom. God forbid if you ever lodge a compalain on their thread. Just gonna get accused of your system being messy shakehead.gif

Thank god doc finally released HD V7. Much more stable and less drama.

Haha yeah v6 did cause quite a commotion. Didn't help especially since they went about delaying it to release a "masterpiece"

Differs from people to people I guess. V6 has worked without flaw for me from day 1. Only kernels I've used is Siyah and NEAK though on it.

Edit : dude above me, thumbnail or just link the picture la, no need post the whole darn thing

Even I flash V4 for her without doing anything yet, the phone act very weirdly, but V4 runs fine on my phone.
Since ICS is coming in this month or early next month, might as well wait for it. rolleyes.gif

If so, then dont tell users that its normal for g version to hang. Its the pirated apps problem, not the phone itself.

I don't really get what you mean. If your phone is already rooted, then it is. If it is not yet rooted, the superuser icon will not appear. After you flash your insecure kernel, then you must use superoneclick and click on root the phone and reboot. After rebooting the superuser icon will appear. I don't really get what you mean by what is the difference, the difference is that it is different.
*
Hmm I followed the step via Odin and it rebooted and I saw there's a superuser icon.

Does that mean superoneclick is not required? Superoneclick is another method of rooting I assume.

And sorry for being noobie but what's kernel and flashing roms?

Yeah you should be rooted. And yeah that's a different method. Tell you what, try downloading an app that requires root and see when you launch if it prompts you for root. A superuser popup should appear.

ROM = term loosely used for operating system. When we say flash ROM, we're generally referring to a custom ROM, i.e still Android but modified/developed by someone/people.

You have the one that looks like stock : CynogenMod
You have the one that looks, erm, abit like iPhone : MIUI
And you have ROMs based on samsung's ROM : Checkrom, Turkbey, etc

Kernel = The jazz which manages the internals of your phone, like your CPU and what nots (excluding connection, that's handled by modem/baseband).

So once again, ppl out there "cook" kernels up based on existing kernel codes of samsung and they add/modify stuff. Purpose of flashing this is for better peformance/battery life

Using it with redpill no problem but when I change to phenomenal kernel everything just went to hell. Fine at first but suddenly got market prob, cwm e error, can't restore nandroid. One giant mess. Not really a masterpiece if u need to flash this and that for the rom to work. In my opinion.

Hell my gf phone now even on stock XWKF1 rooted also got problem like auto-restart and freezing, don't know whether it is the effect of flashing multiple times and getting into bootloops multiple times or not. Something may have messed up under the hood beyond my knowledge.

Should I flash the stock ROM again with repartition ticked?
