Sadly i cant afford Rm500 just to repair the shattered digitizer for my N9 and i dont think its worth forking out that much sad.gif ,
I'll just keep it..still usable..

Next options, Lumia 800 or X7 .. unsure.gif

i think i managed to find one at around RM350 last time, and fixed mine, it's a steal compared to others... but that seller was doing a sale back then.. not sure if it's still available. And with the price NCC gonna charge u, u can find a second hand easily, no kidding

Huh? Faster transition makes your animation more fluid? That's interesting! Maybe the new version fixed it. What version of N9 QuickTweak u using by the way?

The Dropbox access is simply for you to share your pic into your dropbox, not for accessing  brows.gif
FasterN9 is only meant to make your phone smoother, it doesn't make your phone completely lag free. Don't misunderstand.  icon_rolleyes.gif

yeah, for me it makes the transitions feel more fluid, a little lag after i exit some app, for mostly below 5 seconds, then after that, fluid smooth transitions 90% of the time. Not too sure, but I just installed it not more then a month, should be the latest version..

haiya, dropbox only share picture ah, they might as well don't integrate like that doh.gif

I'd rather save up and get a new Lumia 800 which i have been aiming for a long time than spending hundreds to repair the broken glass, its still usable and im not planning to get rid of it, i still love my N9 no matter what nod.gif

well, yeah... but TBH, for future proof sake, i think better wait for Lumia 820 and get that one instead.. WP7 has been phased out the moment WP8 is being announced, they are just providing some feature update so that the current user group won't be that pissed off, if u don't own a WP7 now, you should really just wait for WP8

I still can't grasp why they would announce the phasing out WP7 when L800 and 900 are still so fresh in the market, really dampen their own sales.
*apologies* I know this is not a windows thread.. tongue.gif

perhaps i shouldn't use the word phase out, but more like, it's no longer a well supported OS.
MS is throwing all their focus on WP8 now, obviously, and they will promote all the apps in WP8 in the future, and although there will be apps that are compatible with WP7, and they might offer some workaround for WP7 support, but it's like MeeGo users, the market is rather small to really have developers to put attention to WP7 users and make those changes specifically for them. Maybe apps like whatsapp will still get security update, but I doubt that company like EA, Gameloft will throw too much effort into making their game run on WP7 as well, when WP8 has much better market potential, for now

so in maybe 1 year time, WP7 will be pretty much like us, not much new apps, plus it's not open source, it's even worse then us, u can't expect open source community to help u out with 3rd party apps etc etc

Most apps will still be be updated, provided there is a WP7 version already. Games on the other hand are a different story. It was too much hassle to port games which was why you see very little new games on WP7. So what's there now will likely remain, with more junk games added only. All the new games will come to WP8 instead like Angry Birds Space/Star Wars which was just released since it's so easy to port over.

I don't think you need to wait a year to see WP7 in a situation like us though they still have way more big apps than us. Safe to say, skip WP7 devices, wait for WP8 devices. If you really can't wait for a Nokia one (Nokia M'sia really freaking slow & no news still, probably wait till Jan '13), get the HTC 8X which is already out. Haha sorry for promoting a HTC instead but I'm darn tired of Nokia M'sia very slow release already.

I guess Microsoft don't have to protect and think about Nokia? Probably it's better for them too? Besides, seems it's already confirm that Microsoft will have it's own Smartphone brand. They're basically like riding on Nokia to go through their WP7 era.

Nokia reputation is damaged badly and worst from their WP7.5 devices. More people dislike Nokia now. Sad but true.
Nokia may try to gain through the Lumia PureView, but it's still unsure how successful it can be and Nokia have to compete with Samseng and HTC in WP platform and later Microsoft themselves.... It won't really hurt Samseng or HTC since they have Androids, but Nokia relying solely on WP......

I have a feeling Microsoft could make WP8 run on existing devices if they put in the effort but they probably took the easy way out and screwed all WP7.5 users. If Android can run on all types of CPU, RAM and screen resolutions why can't WP8? Many Lumia buyers found their phones which are less than 1 year old outdated. Not the best way to build up market share by abandoning your existing users.

I think this question was already being ask during the WP8 announcement few months back.

hmm.. I think they did mention it's possible, but not worth the effort.. Plus, they did explain that WP7 devices, even if WP8 is ported, they won't be able to make use of the software feature, or rather, the OS experience will not be good, due to the limitation of hardware performance.
Plus, I guess that they only have driver support for Adreno 225 now, and developing for future device, so because the kernal is totally different, Adreno 205's driver might need to be written ground up again.. I don't think MS will do that too.

Correct, it was not a question of 'can port', but more of 'is it worth it?' Yes they answered this in the WP8 announcement back in June, porting the full WP8 for older hardware is possible, but not worth it since to take advantage of new stuff requires new hardware support which the old hardware can't do/too slow for it.

Yes Android can run on all types of CPU, RAM and screen resolutions but how is the experience on older/slower hardware? This is what MS wanted to avoid. I'm not defending them, I just agree with their point of view. icon_rolleyes.gif

Is it worth it to keep millions of WP7.5 users satisfied by giving them an upgrade path? Apparently Microsoft does not think so. Whether it runs slowly on existing hardware is another matter and if users find it too laggy they may choose to upgrade their phone or choose not to upgrade the OS. But at least users don't feel they have been abandoned. Even worse is the fragmentation of apps into WP7 and WP8 apps. WP7.5 users are likely to be saddled with a stagnant app store as developers switch to WP8.

Ios 6 is still able to be installed on iphone 3GS even though not all features will work. I've no love for Apple but at least it knows how to treat its customers.

The path chosen was Nokia with Elop they have predicted this path and still force lumia into the market to test as usual nokia old technique. Try not to blame microsoft you notice when lumia was popular others are quiet like HTC and Samsung only Nokia keep pushing their lumia because they have nothing else already. That time symbian is already hanging.

If you notice samsung already preparing their windows phone 8 thats why they was the first to announce and how can nokia be the last to know when elop is the CEO of nokia working with steve of microsoft?

HTC was the last to announce also the first to be available in the market? Dont you feel all ths dont make sense?

At the moment the future for nokia is not that bright. They keep disappointing their fans again and again.
