Aztech 600ER
Modem Status

Connection Status: Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) : 512
Ds Rate (Kbps) : 352
US Margin : 12
DS Margin : 8
Trained Modulation : GDMT
LOS Errors : 0
DS Line Attenuation : 56
US Line Attenuation : 31
Peak Cell Rate : 1207 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast : 18
CRC Tx Fast : 0
CRC Rx Interleaved : 0
CRC Tx Interleaved : 0
Path Mode : Fast Path

Well, I have frequent disconnection. I think it happens during these few days.
Sometimes, it will disconnect when I go to certain websites.

But I noticed that my Aztech 600ER (started using 2 weeks ago) performs poorly than my D-Link (DSL-300g & DI-724P+). It reconnects slower than D-Link, sometimes even there's no connection, it shows there is one. doh.gif

I have a splitter, voltage regulator. I'm using "quick start" setting for my connection.
When I try to connect my line directly to the D-Link Modem (DSL-300G), I do not experience frequent disconnections.

So, any suggestions?

Line Attenuation 61 30 dB
Data Rate 448 512 kbps

Frequent Disconnection happen almost 2 months already... The ADSL light will keep blinking every 2-3 minutes. (So, cannot play online games and BT downloads)
I have called up TMNet(1300-88-9515) many times already. But, the TMNet technician still cannot solve this problem for me.

Really sad when I also need to pay for the service that I cannot fully use one...

What should I do again? (Any suggestion?)

Guys, my connection has a line attenuation of about 56dB and a noise margin of about 7-9dB (which I understand, is not that good), but I have no problems with synchronization. Also, I have been told by a TM tech. that my connection runs through an RDSLAM near my house before being routed to the exchange. I'm getting about 70-80% of my subscribed speed. But why is my line attenuation so high and noise margin so low? Should I ask them to check on my line quality?

Guys, attached below is a screenshot of the status of my ADSL line:

user posted image

I am currently subscribed to the 1Mbit package, but I can only sync at about 600-700 Kbps instead of 1024 Kbps. I've tried restarting my modem many times, but yet the sync rate stays within 600-700 Kbps. During one of the restarts, I managed to sync at 1024 Kbps but it only lasted for a minute or so, before the 'DSL' light on my modem blinked and I lost my synchronization. Can this be due to my phone line quality? As you can see in the screenshot above, my SNR margin is quite poor. I'm getting high line attenuation too. BTW, my line is connected to an RDSLAM which is located a few hundred metres away from my house. Any advice would be much appreciated.

WTF mon, my snr margin drops over time.

I thought it's suppose to be constant with acceptable +/- drops and increase?

It was 27DB when I turn my router on, after 4 hours, it drops "gradually" to 12DB and still dropping, DB by DB.

any clue as to why this happen?

Is it good? For your info, I've subscribed for the Streamyx Basic 1.0M - RM77 (Free Modem Festive Package). But the download/upload speed only shown 506/256. :|

I'm having the same problem too. I'm subscribed to the 1 Mbps package but only synchronized at about 600-700 Kbps, which means that my actual speed is only about 450-550 Kbps. I'm waiting for my tech to come over.

Your SNR looks ok, do you have frequent disconnection? If not than It's ok, since you are running on ADSL2 1m package.

SNR figure for 1m ADSL2 package are typically "low", becoz our copper network suck, yet they want to make money, so they offer it for you to apply. The higher the speed is, the lower the SNR will be, as a rule of thumb.

about your speed, I believe it's miscapped, but judging from your low SNR, I believe if they give you 1Mb, it will drop below 10db for uSNR (upload SNR) and below 18DB for dSNR.

Maybe that's why they cap you back to 512kb, so it's more stable with a higher SNR figure. If they downgrade you to 512kb so your line can run stable, you should not be paying RM77, call them up and have them correct it.

either have them fix your line to 1M (could make your line crappy) OR

stick with 512k but pay RM66 only.

Either way, there is a mistake on their part, call them up.

http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm <-- great info on SNR, read it.

go to windows, start > run ... type CMD and press enter. Once you are in the DOS screen (black pop up screen), type Ipconfig and see what your DEFAULT GATEWAY is. It's usually 192.168.1.1 for most modem/router. Some modem/router uses 10.0.0.2

Type 192.168.1.1 (or whatever your default gateway is) into your internet explorer. You may need to enter a username and password to get into the web interface for your router.

it's usually in your router user manual, or you could ask tmnet for it.

you have to tinker around with the different links and tabs once you are in but what you should be looking for is the ADSL statistic page. YOu should be able to see your speed and attenuation and SNR there.
