i doubt any ministers would use proton unless it is given as their official car. pfft. anyway i think the design of the car is ok, just that the interior (dashboard) looks dull.

Aiming high, I see, and they have not even reveal the name of the car.

That said, after reading the post about delays with this car's production, I hope it doesn't get overbooked. Else it's gonna be like when the Waja first came out, production could not meet demand, driving the QC down.

Not sure they can produce over 1000 car a month. Earlier report they struggle to achieve the manufacturing target monthly.

I just hope Proton not only focusing on sales. Make sure every unit of P3-21A meet the global standard and have no quality issues.

Although im interested with this car, i don't think will book the car next week.

Proton delays launch of newest model
Business Times understands that the delay was due to issues related to components, design, readiness and cost. “There are last-minute design changes. The hot press forming parts are also still being produced using soft tools airfreighted in from Germany,” one of the sources said.

This has led to an insufficient number of completed units for mass distribution, besides after-sales concern. The model, which slots in between Proton Persona and Proton Inspira and is based on the Proton Tuah concept model, has been lined up for launch on March 17.

The sources said there were insufficient cars for distribution due to the production going at a snail’s pace. The production forecast for March, for example, had been scaled down to 600 units from the planned 2,621 units.

The cumulative cars produced in January and February were 337 units from the targeted 4,246 units, the sources added. The delay setback aside, Proton adviser Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, after having test-driven a P3-21A early last month, said the new car was superior to other Proton models.

“I can verify and assure Proton customers and Malaysians in general that this new model can match any of the Japanese or European cars,” Dr Mahathir said in a February 7 posting in his blog at chedet.cc.

“It was such a pleasure to drive. A foreign friend who knows all about cars tested the new model and said it was up to the standard of up-market cars from Europe.

“I believe that this is a great car and Proton can be proud of it. Malaysians can be proud of it, too. The extra ringgit you have to spend will be worth it,” he added.

i dunno about you guys, but i feel that delaying is good, at least proton is still trying to iron out as much problems as possible before launch. at least, when it is launched (whenever that may be), it should be relatively trouble free, and that should help improve proton's overall image. rather than pushing for the launch to be as soon as possible, some delays are good (in a way)

Well technically, there is no delay. We don't even know the launch date to begin with. It was expected on March/April. If there is design changes, impossible to change within few weeks. All things must have been finalize. Maybe they want to wait for the production to ramp up. Because the output is very low. Or maybe Najib not available next week.

Added on March 9, 2012, 3:51 pmI really don't think the present of Najib is really necessary for product launching. We know Proton is national brand. But cmon, those tradition only ruin Proton as we all know linking a company to a government always not a good thing. Please just let go the 'government' image. Launch the product by yourself. It is a good start for a company that trying to 'prove' itself.

What does this person know about cars to comment "match"?.
Doesn't this LAME comment always ring in every of the new model launch?...
Isn't it easier to say..Inspira match japanese standards?.

BS.
