And technology advancement. The Soch engine could match a doch engine power output. So it not a bad thing. Moreover, Soch engine have better torque curve.

Civic 2.0 or 408 2.0? Any comparison?

Also, anyone know which branch have Civic Hybrid for test drive? =)

C-segments compared, as models are split between all makes, it's kind of hard to make it an entirely fair comparison

Not a comprehensive list but compares the most talked about features used today. I've tried to make it as accurate as possible. Most of the good stuff only come in at the 120k+ price range.

Hmmm, you could read both articles and do the comparison yourself. As of now, I've not test driven the Civic so it won't be a fair comparison.

The 408 article can be found here:

http://www.kensomuse.com/peugeot-408-are-y...gthy-or-nice-2/

Between RM109,888 vs RM131,980, the difference in price is pretty significant

Updated the specs

Tried to be as accurate as possible, but some of these manufacturer's website has some very ambiguous details. Particularly horrible are Mazda, Chervolet and Hyundai. Seriously, they need to spend more money on developing a better website that actually gives better details on their car models.

Ford Focus 2012 specs are not entirely accurate at all since details are scarce

Went to see the car yesterday.. Here is what i feel. 1.8 interior looks weird... 2.0 interior color combination looks better. Dashboard wise looks futuristic. I like what they did to the space between driver n front passenger very good ergonomics.

but for an additional 5k (Navi) for GPS, Bluetooth & touch screen is a bit expensive furthermore adding the Navi spoils the looks of the dashboard as the unit doesn't fit the looks of the dashboard.

I think the civic new design looks much better in black..

here is what i feel. smile.gif

As for going back to SOHC.. i'm sure they have their reasons for it if not they will not make such move..just need to know what is the theory behind it

you can add leather seat to 1.8, add rm2500 only..all become black like 2.0

I'll just upload the spreadsheet later so you all can make corrections, lol.
I made it so my wife and I can compare the features between the makes. In the end, after test driving the new Civic today, she went ahead to book the 1.8s.

Despite the Forte and Elantra being better specced, she was still more comfortable going Japanese.

Updated the excel file with all the relevant information between the different C segments.

The accuracy should be largely correct right now and if there are still errors, you can now correct it easily.

Download and modify as necessary

Simple reason. Thts because of the brand and the status that comes with it. If u go Korean, ure considered a lower rank. Kinda pointless making the comparison in your wife's case. I quite sure she was all for the Japanese from the start or am i wrong? biggrin.gif

haha, exactly the situation my girl is facing at the moment, though she is actually picking between hybrid and 1.8 elantra. as much as i love elantra's design, i can't help but to feel civic's level of refinement is better than elantra. the fittings in elantra seems, 'loose' lol but definitely more soft padded materials.

Yes, she is still more pro Japanese even right in the beginning. But she was very impressed with the Forte when i convinced her to go take a look and take a test drive. The deal breaker was the distributor though... Even she has heard a lot of bad feedback about the Naza after sales and my wife ain't into cars, LOL!

I think if it was UMW Hyundai or Kah motors KIA, things might have been a bit different

Make no mistake, the Civic is a lot of hard plastics. It ain't pretty but the utility is there. The overall handling and NVH is still superior on the Civic compared to the Forte. I didn't drive the Elantra but I think the interior was definitely a more upmarket in the Elantra as compared to the Civic. At the end of the day, Honda's long history in Malaysia is still one of the main factor why people turn to them instead of the Koreans. People who aren't car enthusiasts will always take the safe choice as long as the basics are covered.

Are u sure the bad feedback was from Naza or previous Kia's? How would you know unless uve experienced it yourself? Most of these so called 'bad feedback' come from previous gen Koreans. But, im not saying current after sales standards are on par with the Japs. Sure it isnt. But its improved alot in the last 2 years especially. We can't expect overnight changes.

But is after sales service standards more important than value for money? Would you pay about 35K more to get better after sales service & resale value since specs are basically the same between the 2.0L Forte and the 2.0L Civic? You would i guess but i think 35K is too much to pay. I faced the same dilemma when i was choosing my car. Yes i could have gone with the masses and booked myself a Camry but at what cost? I find it comical that ppl talk endlessly bout the importance of resale value but they are fine with paying top dollar for something with far less specs initially. Somehow, value for money for them does have a different definition.

I say yes to the bolded part. When most people buy a new car they will be dependent on the distributor/manufacturer to service their ride and solve any technical problems with their cars. A gadget-filled car is useless if no one knows how to properly maintain it nor repair it. It should and it must play a critical role when choosing the brand of car to buy.

That said, IMO even T & H has less than stellar customer service in this country. It is a sad state that we have resort to choosing a brand with the least useless aftersales service these days.

I'd second your statement., especially when a car is full of electronics. My dad was pretty against the idea of me getting an audi as they are not exactly famous for their service 'friendliness'. Heck, I have to travel the Penang bridge just to do my annual service lol. I guess it only takes passion or obsession for one to buy cagrs where their service centers are not that well established yet. Take Kia for example. In Penang I think they have a 3s centre but they only service car on selected days rclxub.gif well I might be wrong but that's what I read on the window of the showroom. People bash myvi but the after service and service maintenance is even better than Mercedes in my case lol. My worker says that people from the service centre would always call and follow up post-service. Man, I don't even have that from driving a conti hahaha.
