QUOTE(zweimmk @ Jul 14 2012, 09:10 AM) C-segments compared, as models are split between all makes, it's kind of hard to make it an entirely fair comparison Not a comprehensive list but compares the most talked about features used today. I've tried to make it as accurate as possible. Most of the good stuff only come in at the 120k+ price range. Thanks for the table. Can you please add Ford Focus & Inspira as well? I assume that rain sensing wiper is the same as auto light sensor and engine push start is the same as smart entry. Boot size is another factor to consider as well.

QUOTE(benlye @ Jul 15 2012, 09:53 AM) Went to see the car yesterday.. Here is what i feel. 1.8 interior looks weird... 2.0 interior color combination looks better. Dashboard wise looks futuristic. I like what they did to the space between driver n front passenger very good ergonomics. but for an additional 5k (Navi) for GPS, Bluetooth & touch screen is a bit expensive furthermore adding the Navi spoils the looks of the dashboard as it doesn't unit doesn't fit the looks of the dashboard. I think the civic new design looks much better in black.. here is what i feel. As for going back to SOHC.. i'm sure they have their reasons for it if not they will not make such move..just need to know what is the theory behind it Actually SOHC is less about emission and more about production cost. You can tune DOHC to get similar emission result as SOHC but this will increase the cost as more components are involved for DOHC compared to SOHC.

I was also quite skeptical towards Korean cars but I frequently go to Autocar website and the Elantra/i30 always gets a good review from the site and a few others. I've also came across on articles where the VW boss, Herr Winterkorn was impressed with the quality of the i30 and his action while viewing the car and asking his team on why they can't do the same thing with their products was caught on video. He was impressed with the little details like how the wipers can't be seen from the driving position. I would buy the Elantra without any hesitation if it is positioned at a similar price with Forte here. Sadly they put it closer to the Japanese rivals and the fact that it has less airbags compared to Forte has put me off. I really like the design but I guess that I can't have everything, low price, good features and safety. Afterall Hyundai is now charging a premium on the Elantra in the US compared to Civic and Focus. http://www.cbt.com.my/2012/06/12/us-market...ets-price-hike/This post has been edited by alg7_munif: Jul 16 2012, 09:57 PM

QUOTE(twincharger07 @ Jul 16 2012, 09:57 PM) 10liter/100km on econ mode? is econ mode = sport mode? Econ = ECONomy, means slow acceleration, less power and early upshifts.

QUOTE(xtjs @ Jul 16 2012, 10:03 PM) lucky i saw this might really reconsider getting one as i prefer a lower consp car what about the hybrid civic? why less demand? People who buy hybrid would like others to know that they are different so they will choose a hybrid car which looks different. To most people, it is hard to see the difference between normal Civic and the Hybrid version, not to mention the price is also quite high. QUOTE(winger7 @ Jul 17 2012, 07:19 PM) tht's one option that I've considered. but then again, assuming I plan to sell off my car in 3 years time - i believe the civic can still fetch a price of about 100K based on the price trend i see in carlist. and this will still be an attractive buy for potential buyers as there will still be remaining of 2 yrs warranty. however, i dont think mazda 6's value will be on par w civic in 3 years time, especially when there's already a newer model out there in the market. just my 2 cents There is this talk about market liberalisation in 2015-2016, don't know how true is it but if it happens, your 3 years plan will go down to the drain.

Japanese cars are so good, even before buying the cars people are already thinking about selling them, hence the resale value argument...

QUOTE(mokhzaini @ Jul 20 2012, 11:47 PM) been reading through lots been said about resale value is not important. which absolutely not true. yes buy car has never been an investment and nobody saying it is an investment in the first place. so save the argument 'investment buy house blah blah blah' except for maybe very rare ones. which surely not a single people here can afford. resale value is actually a summarization of a brand strength. and confidence. some of the time yes demand plays a part but most of the time people just buy what they have confidence in. resale value is a good indicator whether one particular brand doing good over here or not. and mind u great resale value is not something u can have by doing business in 2-3-4-5 years. it is a product of perhaps 10-20 years of GREAT services. we got to admit the japanese done good. except maybe for mazda but they are coming back. you may buy what ever u want but discarding resale value IS NOT WISE ------- the car is already in honda sg petani. and they will sort out the documents, NCD, blah blah blah. if not next week then perhaps next week of the next week. i guess this will be it - buy without test driving. If it is a good car, you will be looking at a long term ownership. If you are already thinking about selling the car even before buying, it is like buying the car not because it is good but buying the car as a stop gap for something better. In this case it looks like buying the car not because you wanted it but because you want to minimize your losses.

Last time, Toyota and Honda were among the first mainstream manufacturers in Malaysia which offered new features such as dual airbags, abs+ebd, vtec or vvti, and electronic controlled transmission.
Don't you think that the good resale value that they enjoyed today was due to the fact that the older Toyota and Honda cars still have the relevant features which are now just started to be used by others especially the local brands?

QUOTE(kc_lim @ Aug 21 2012, 09:13 PM) Then, wat is the purpose of the keyless remote? Have u tried bringing away the remote and ask someone to drive the car away to see how it works? If that's the case, our car is prone for theft..... Added on August 21, 2012, 9:15 pmIs this full Mugen bodykit or juz the trunk spoiler? I noticed that the rear under and side under spoilers look like Modulo What is it prone to thief? You won't leave yourcar with the keys inside the car and engine running even if your car doesn't have the keyless remote so why would you leave your car with the engine running when you have the keyless feature?

QUOTE(Glau @ Sep 16 2012, 06:54 AM) yup...mine has a slight rattling sound from the back seat when it is driven on uneven road too. i believe it is the back rest too. it seems to happen only on a stretch of road on the ferderal highwat (amcorp exit to jalan 222 exit)..funny. Price went up from previous generation, hope that quality goes up as well. Minor rattling from earlier batch of cars is still acceptable, it will get better as the factory gain more experience assembling the new model and adopt some improvement along the way.

http://www.cbt.com.my/2012/10/19/honda-civ...avi-test-drive/Not what I expect from Civic, smaller boot than city, no split folding rear seat and loud engine.
