I test drove the new Civic Hybrid the other day. It was not quiet as you mentioned. I noticed the rolling tyre is very noisy and every time i step on the brake it makes some 'eeeeeee......'noise coming from the battery compartment. It's very irritating. Did you notice the same issue?
Tyre noise will become more pronounced when the engine is quiet and vice versa. Thats why in some cases, when u change to 'quiet' tyres like Michelin & Continental, ull suddenly realise that the engine sounds 'louder' when in actual fact, the previous tyre noise was drowning out the engine sound in the cabin.

Finally, my wife's Civic will be available for pickup this Thursday! Signed all relevant documents today.

Noticed a few things about the 1.8s

1. Headlamp is projector!!!! Yes!!! That means upgrading to HID will be a lot easier since I don't have to source the 9th gen projector style headlamps! Wahahaha!

2. No autolock, so will have to do it outside tongue.gif

3. The speaker compartment behind the boot is not covered up. They covered up the ugly wires in the boot hinges but didn't bother to cover up the speaker compartment... Hello Honda, why so half ass effort?

Lol I was really enquiring bro because the 8th Gen don't have this function. If it's really an intended feature then I suppose there's no harm unlocking the doors from the inside without pressing the button.

so thats another thing that hybrid has and our 2.0 doesnt. u can lock it manually with that little button on the driver side. and it will unlock itself when u open the door without having to push that unlock button (from inside of course)

i see 'DRL' as among the gauge symbols on the meter cluster. is this means at the electronic control box there is connection for DRL? and where exactly civic market in the world got DRL as standard?

If I am not mistaken. The US's civic hybrid does. If the specs from honda us is reliable..

Yes, it is true that all excise duties are already exempted. But, if all car values reduce (if it happen after GE), then it will also more or less affect the value of Hybrid vehicles. Ppl will start to choose cheaper petrol cars (eg. in this case, would be Civic 2.0) unless petrol price increase. G should consider changing tax structure and allow Hybrid vehicles to pay less Road tax...

If not, ppl will generally avoid Hybrid vehicles which are more exp... causing 2nd hand value of Hybrid vehicles to suffer (maybe not much).

as far as I see now the hybrid is the best choice..  Will not affect by the new Car Policy....

No matter that the SA promise you, make sure if they promise so called Honda install it's done by the Service Centre (you will not get factory install) and not by outside accessories shop.

SA promise anything to make a sale.. their so called Honda install is done by outside accessories shop before deliver to customer.

My opinion is that if car price drop, the petrol price somehow will increase slightly. But still.. the only place in the world that Hybrid Civic is cheaper than 2.0 is here. So really worth getting the Hybrid.. PLUS its CBU from Japan.. the quality..

Not sure about the DRL. I have to ask the SA, but from the website there are no indication of DRL option available?

Have u got urs then? =)
Yea, hopefully the G will do something sensible, not just reduce tax blindly. Hybrid is worth it only if petrol price increase (after tax exemption is approved for all cars).
Imagine you can get a Civic 2 at RM75k ++, and a Civic Hybrid cost you RM100k. Which one will you choose if petrol price remains the same or slightly increase? =)
2nd hand value will surely drop, but drop more for Civic 2.0. Civic Hybrid 2nd hand value will more or less drop a bit.

Can you take a picture of the wires in the boot hinges? Have you lodged a complain with HM to rectify it?

Also, how is the 1.8S' driveability and handling as compared to the 2.0 (since no chance to test drive the 1.8S at all)? Any regrets?

Anyway, I placed my booking for the 1.8S and am waiting for the arrival in October. Can't bear to spend the extra RM16k sad.gif. Will probably regret a bit especially if i sit in a 2.0 but need to be careful with spending money in this economy.

Thanks in advance!

Haven't get the car yet, only getting this Thursday. What I mean is the rear boot, it is usually all black because it's is fully carpeted, but the top part which houses the speaker, that area is exposed and it's quite unsightly. It's no big deal actually, but it's still a half assed effort. Like you dress someone up and then in the middle of the clothes got a small gaping hole.
