A human can be trained if they are competent enough. All these 'low talk' by the manager is a bunch of BS. wink.gif How capable you want the person to be? Do they still want to work for you if they are perfect? Betul ka? wink.gif Big Ego la... wink.gif

well, about my interview earlier this week, i pretty much spent  about 30minutes getting killed and owned by the GM, where he boldly mentioned that I am not adaptable, not flexible, and technical minded ( he is is looking for someone with more commercial minded). Sent a thank you letter the day after the interview, and the HR said will revert to me by Friday(today). But today the HR said still cannot conclude their selection yet. My guess is that, I did bad, but the others did worse. lol

How did the GM know all of that (adaptable, flexible.....)in 30 minutes time, it bothers me.

I realize the GM interviewer will press you to pull your expected salary lower duing the salary negotiation stage. It's a tactic

Yeap, if u show u are commercially minded, he will say u not technical enuf.
If u can show both, they will say u are overqualified than our expected level, would u consider reducing ur pay to our expected level.

If you have stayed for <=183 days last year, yes, you are regarded as a non-resident to be taxed at 15%. But you can request IRAS to reassess your profile from non-resident to resident by providing your current employment details. After IRAS reassessed, they will credit the amount that you have paid into your bank via GIRO.

More info here.

BTW, todays budget. Sg will reduce intake of Foreign Talents. So, this means it is going to be slightly tougher to come in. Good luck. wink.gif

Can't blame them making noise. Even the local PR here is feeling the heat from FT.

It is the employers fault who wanted to bring in lower pay people squeezing out the locals and PRs. wink.gif

That's only half the story. You are a consumer as well as an employee/service provider.

You want to pay more for everything?

I did. Which is why I scratching my head where you came up with the ridiculous notion of blaming it all on employers.

Blame the citizens then.

In the coming months, when the limitations on foreigners are implemented, Singaporeans will piss and whine about everything from higher bus fares to more expensive food courts.

And then the other shoe will drop, when they realise that kicking out the foreigners,.. does nothing to increase their employment. Because the economy will shrink and probably decrease average citizen income rather than increase it. If foreigners are considered cheap labour taking away their (Singaporeans') jobs, then what makes them think that the jobs will stay in Singapore after the supply of cheap labour disappears?

Countries that import stuff from Singapore are not going to pay for price increases just because Singaporeans suddenly want to do less work for more pay (compared to foreigners).

I am not going to argue with you man. Then why is the Finance Minister doing this? You better go and talk to the Minister then. Maybe your economics is better. wink.gif

There are many ways to skin a cat. It's up to how creative you are. wink.gif

The finance minister should argue with former finance minister, who said exactly what I said.
