3.8k for 6 years experience sounds a bit low to me... is the minimum 3.5  months bonus in black and white?

seems low to me too ;( tried to ask the agent to nego a lil more for me, but she said the company wont go any higher...
ya the 3.5 bonus is in the offer letter.

salary: $3800
bonus: at least 3.5month anually
annual leave: 24 days
Medical: $350
Dental: $200

My current salary in KL is RM6200 including allowance.
3.5 years experience in system development and 2.5 years in application support.

If your bonus is contractual or target-based, and assuming 4 months bonus, then it's $60k p.a. ... which sucks ass.

If you dont get the job, those who said you should get this, get that, at the end, they dont suffer a bit. It is only you who is affected. If the offer is better than your current job, it is for you yourself to consider it, take it or not. If you really feel it is no good, you can look for other better offer after you come here.

Your current expenses is 4k and how many ringgit left with your current pay after taking away the PCB and EPF? You just barely survive in Malaysia.

With a SGD 3,8k job, you highest expenses is room and transport. Room, you can rent and share with someone and it only cost you around 250 - 300 only. Transport is only max 300-400 per month and makan, no need so nice food lar since you are alone here....give you 600 per month. Do you know how much disposable income left for you to spend or save for this 3.8k job compare to your current job?

ive a house loan im paying at rm800 a month here in KL..

actually i've been looking for a job that fits me in Sg for almost 2 years now. and this is the best offer I've seen so far. before i get the offer, I have told myself 'if i'll be offered minimum 3.8K, i'll be satisfied...'
isnt the bonus good and makes up for the low salary?

when you talk to high class people, they will look down on your 3.8k. If you ask a Tan Sri, he can tell you even a 100k salary is also not worth it....it all boils down to what you want for yourself.

The minimum 3.5 bonus is SGD 13,300 = RM32k. Even you spend all your monthly 3.8k salary, at the end of the year, you will have RM32k savings, can you do that in Malaysia? doh.gif still want to think.....you dont think Singapore's road is full of gold bars for you to come and pick up....

you dont take the job, there will always be someone willing to take it up.....and once the boat left, you will be left searching for may be another 2 years?

ya...IT
but I came here with almost 5 years exp with about half your m'sian salary back then. sweat.gif sweat.gif
My offer was slightly higher basic than what you are offered now, so basically, mine was a no brainer whether to accept or not as mine was more than 1:1 (must be I am underpaid in M'sia).
Furthermore, your situation is almost the same as mine back then. laugh.gif laugh.gif
Gal (fiance) already here...guy still stuck in M'sia.
I do not like support..prefer development.
However, being with my wife is more important so I accepted the support offer and now waiting for chance to jump back. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Added on March 15, 2012, 10:34 amBut I definitely do not have a 3.5 month guaranteed bonus.

i think ill miss driving most of all.

I thought I would miss driving when I moved to SG (after 6 years working in KL), but I actually don't. MRT is super convenient, and when I'm lazy to stand, or going out on the weekends, I'll just take cab. End up spending couple hundred on transport a month which (dollar for ringgit) is still significantly less than the cost of owning and running a car in KL.

... because my fiance is there ...

AIYO, like this then changes things already. Strictly speaking looking at the numbers, $60k p.a. is peanuts pay for your role / experience, and I feel you would somewhat downgrade your standard of living as compared to your rm90k p.a. M'sia job. But to be together with your loved one especially since planning to get married - personally I would take the hit to avoid long distance relationship.

Do note that renting an entire apartment changes the numbers significantly, though. Don't know how much your fiancee is earning, but whole apartment, you'll need to cough up somethign like $2.5k/mth (including utilities) for anything decent.
