guys, does Seagate ST1000DM001 available in our market? hw much price if its available? this 1 is single platter model rite? i wanna raid0.
or izit ST3000DM001 only single platter hmm.gif

it is ST1000DM003 and not 001. available since april 2012. last time i bought around 300++. it should be 200 something right now. it is single platter 1TB. ST3000DM001 is 1TB per platter x3. so it has 3 platter with size of 3TB.

You can try to ask the shop to do 1 to 1 but very depend on relationship。

Last time i hear is Seagate is more dependable than WD Green. Maybe you can try WD Black for more reliable since it have less fail % then Seagate.

Still reliability debate? Every single darn brand is same, I just RMA-ed my Samsung, got a same Samsung model but with Seagate model as well on the sticker so it's same for all HDDs, I might consider changing my PSU since it's already quite sometimes and my system is probably pushing the PSU to its limit already (2-year+).
If you so afraid by reliability, spend more on those enterprise HDD that has 5-year warranty and RAID1 or RAID5 depends on needs, and likewise spend more on few sets of backup. This is the most reliable way of keeping the data safe.

i'm not bias on brand.. but this is through records that i'm using them..
nowadays the hdd size is getting bigger... the biggest concern that should be taken care is on how the hdd able to hold the data safely..

this is clearly insane if just can survive for just a few months..
though the hdd spec keep changing.. what's the best bet that normal user can have?

it's getting worst right now..

I am sticking with Western Digital biggrin.gif

got my HDD back from RMA
and they replace it with newer model instead of fixing it (pre-flood hdd)

am a happy consumer currently

Oh my! Nowadays HDD are not trustworthy as a matter of fact when its gonna fail you sooner or later. I think when SSD was introduced, HDD are going damn cheap and cheaper until its robustness or Quality Control (QC) acts like nobody business. I am not saiding that i will give up HDD but i am sad that their inspection are getting worse and worse if the price of HDD is getting dirt cheap nowadays. So, by the time HDD is around a few bucks imagine the reliability of it. Sign!
