acctully the shipping estimate cost is how to calculate???? coz i want buy sum model kit at HLJ...
*
AT HLJ, you can check roughly how much the shipping cost by put the mouse cursor over "Other currencies" link in the "Shipping estimates" part. According to HLJ: Customers in Asia should expect to pay about 25% less. You can estimate the shipping cost of individual item this way. About bulk ordering, you can expect the shipping cost will be lower than both of the sum of shipping cost for individual items

Hmm, RM 170 for an MG Force Impulse is not that cheap lor. Even in BB area, you can get one at RM 160. And if you are willing to as far as Kota Damansara, you can go o Famitoys (address here : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/392450 ).
This is their price of MG Force Impulse : http://famitoy.com/index.php?main_page=pro...products_id=336

The "less than RM 500 no tax" rule applies only for EMS.
*
there is actually no hard rules for more or less than MYR500. Customs can detain, if they so wish, anything that passes our borders. Normally, they would assume goodies worth ~500 as for personal consumption and let the parcel passes through...however..if the customs declaration up front says tobacco, liquor, cd, dvd...more probable than not; will be detained for tax purposes. I've imported quite a bit of toys (r/c stuffs)..with variable results. Rechargeable batteries carry quite a hefty import and sale taxes

I think will be safe. But dunno if it will directly delivered to ur home. Sometimes they will tahan your parcel (if look suspiciously taxable, like having a big box) and ask you to come to their place to claim it. Then, they will open the parcel in front of you, and reconfirm whether your item is taxable or not. If not taxable, you can just bring the item homelah

Hi, Im a new member here. Just want to share my experience of buying toys online here.

I bought some toys from HobbyLink Japan and Hobby World.

This are the info of item I bought from HobbyLink Japan:
Faked Ultraman Flying Pose - 3800yen
ULtraman Seven Flying Pose - 3800yen
Choose SAL as total weight is only 2kg. Cheaper. If more than 2kg, price is the almost same as EMS.
Shipment cost - 2900yen
Total cost - 10500yen ~ RM315
Purchase on 11/7/08.
Check the the item tracking on JapanPost website with item number given to me by HobbyLink Japan.
11/7/08 - posting from HobbyLink Japan office in Gunma.
12/7/08(saturday) - arrive at outward office of exchange in Tokyo.
14/7/08(monday) - despatch from outward office of exchange in Tokyo.
17/7/08 - arrive at KL.
19/7/08 - delivered to my house.

On 19/7/08 around 4pm, I recieve a call from post malaysia saying that my item has been block by custom. I was curious as my item cost just below RM500 should be tax free. I ask her about that. She then ask me what barang is that. I say barang mainan. She say barang mainan tax juga. She then gave me the number of my item and ask me to remember that. She then ask me do I know how to settle this at KLIA. I say I don't know (although I been there once with my superior to settle some spare part item for my company. Going there like going to jungle). She then propose me to appoint them to settle for me. Charges RM49.50. Very nice number!!! rclxms.gif As Im to lazy to go to KLIA. I agree. I just have to wait to collect my stuff at post office pj.

On the same night, when I reach home. I saw HobbyLink Japan parcel in my house. Those are the Ultraman figure that I order! They have a stamp "dilepaskan" from the custom, although the box is a bit kemek at the side. Then what was that call from post malaysia was about. rclxub.gif

It must be the next item from Hobby World. I check the item tracking that night.

This are the info of item I bought from Hobby World:
Cms Rally Car Collection SS.7 Mitsubishi - 7896yen
Cms Rally Car Collection SS.10 Subaru - 7896yen
This time item is more than 2 kg. Not much different between SAL and EMS. Choose EMS.
Shipment cost - 4000yen
Total cost - 19792yen ~ RM593.76 shocking.gif
Again check the item tracking on JapanPost website.
Purchase on 11/7/08.
16/7/08 - posting from Hobby World in Aichi.
17/7/08 - despatch from outward office of exchange in Aichi.
19/7/08 - 11.49am, arrive at KL. 12.45pm, in custom. shocking.gif 12.59pm, Awaiting presentation to customs commissioner. doh.gif

So that is the call from post malaysia is all about. This time I kena tax. Ready to fork out ~RM100. Jiak Lak.

After a deep thought, I should have this two item split out as separate shipment using SAL. It will be cheaper compare to combine shipment using EMS. Some more maybe can lari tax. Haaai, padam muka.

Well, according to this slip. It is sure that this is SAL.
If you punch in this item number into this site http://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/ems/index_en.html EMS track and trace column. You can see all the details of tracking.

O.o. But they don't usually provide any sort of tracking code when you choose SAL. Well, at least I have never experienced them providing it before.

Actually what HLJ sent to sonytoys is by international parcel. This explains why for 2kg parcel it cost 2900yen, almost as expensive as EMS.

If it's sent by using small package it only cost 1680 yen, which doesn't have tracking and only has small sticker like others said.
