hi guys,
sorry but I'm a noob at this sort of thing, and I want to know whether SAL includes registration? I want to order Mr Super Clear Flat and a female Obitsu body from HLJ, and from a few pages in this thread, some people say if you use SAL you will have to pay tax, whereas EMS doesn't require any. Which do you guys think I should use? The total if not including shipping is RM 82, shipping with SAL would be RM 17. If I were to use EMS the shipping would be double the price. Thanks. smile.gif

I don't really understand your question. You mean how to let the seller knows that you've banked in the cash?

If you bank in via the ATM, you can get the receipt from the ATM, scan or take a photo of it and e-mail it to the seller as a proof.

If you do online transaction, take a screenshot of the transaction and email it to the seller.

SAL does not include registration, thus you can't track it.

SAL or EMS, both also you have to pay tax BUT if you use SAL, the customs have the right to tax you regardless of the total cost of the items, even if its just RM100. If you use EMS, the customs only have the right to tax you if the total cost of the items is more than RM500.

Total cost = Item cost + Shipping Cost + Insurance (if you have)

I can see that the stuff you wanna order only costs RM82. Why not but more stuff or ask some frends whether they wanna get anything from there? You can share and save shipping cost and use EMS lolz.

I'm still confused here... How exactly do they calculate the tax ah? I'm sure its been posted somewhere but phew... 30 pages to review??!
I have the urge suddenly to buy just one figure at the cost of RM260++ (inclusive of SAL Shipping) from HLJ and I'm staying at Sabah...
Plus, anyone here from Sabah have experience ordering from HLJ using SAL/EMS? Takes and duration of time? Care to share experience here?

Unfortunately I cannot really afford to buy more things....and my friends have no interest in this sort of stuff, but I'll try asking around. So they will charge you no matter how cheap your parcel is then? Thanks for replying smile.gif

Ok, i found my answer already... customs charge 5% in regards to toy figurines.
Now my next question is.. i need advise on buying at Play-Asia. Is there any difference between using Credit Card direct vs Paypal (via Credit Card also)?

If you pre-order something on PA and choose Paypal as your method of payment, they will charge you immediately where else they will only charge your CC when the item becomes availabe (in stock) when you choose credit card as your method of payment. IMO, I prefer Paypal since it is safer and they have some buyer protection stuff.

Anyways chances of customs holding your items are rather low of you make purchases which are below a certain value (around RM 500 me thinks)

Thanks Raptor dude for the info.
thts exactly what i was aware of.. taxes. well, i just came to know abt it when i made pre orders for my sister's behalf last week using both payment methods. doh.gif the total went over 500 but it was a separate buy. i "testing testing" buy from PA. biggrin.gif
now i wonder will the customs charge taxes per item or taxes all items received at a particular day even if its a separate buy? cause if they charge taxes per item and assuming they dont charge purchases below 500 like what was mentioned, i'd presume i'd be safe but then again like other ppl's experience, it totally depends on the person in charge.
also, i was wondering if charges differ from each country? like say, you buy stuff from ebay thats from the US, will taxes still be 5% (figurines)?
if any of the above questions have been previously addressed in the previous pages, my apologies. i'd appreciate it if someone could pinpoint me which page was it.

taxes are the same no matter which country your are importing from. And they tax per parcel so it's total items price + shipping price. If you have two separate shipment coming in each less than RM500 but if total up both shipment is over Rm500 you might or might not get tax, depends on your luck on this. Coz got forumer kena tax for two separate shipment that arrive on the same day.

It depends. I think PayPal's conversion rates are slower to update compared to CC which is converted directly from the bank. PayPal charges a little bit more too.

Charges a little bit more? You mean there's fees included? I thought there was no fees but if its the foreign rates, i catch your drift.

For CC, local bank will charge 1% admin fees, I am not sure if there are any bank that doesn't charge this fee though. The rate for local bank CC is based on the rate given by MasterCard International or Visa International.
