CPL filter is like when we go to fishing's time wear sun glasses which can see through the surface of water to look at the fish is it??
and can make sky more blue and sharp correct??

if i buy back a Hoya UV Filter is it ok?? how about Kenko brand? B+W is too expensive for me

thanks

Yes, CPL allows you to literally see through glare and reflective surfaces. That includes Glass. The Sky would be darker because CPL will also reduce the amount of light reaching the sensor, so may have to compensate with higher iso or slower shutter.

Be careful though, cause there are FAKE Hoya's being sold.

QUOTE(poolcarpet @ Jul 24 2012, 10:33 AM)
sorry no idea, i don't believe in using any filters for protection at this time. think it just waste the quality of the lens+camera unless get those really good expensive ones.

*
Well, once in a while filters will allow you some shots which would be impossible to produce in photoshop.

Of course for photographic reasons then yes by all means use filters. But not for 'protection' using some cheapo sacrificial filter! It's just spoiling the image the camera and lens is capable of smile.gif

true true, low quality filters do degrade image quality. Oh yea. can also try stacking up the filters haha.. attach one filter over another, to degrade it even further.

-----------------------------------------------------
By the way, there are filters of 49mm size. However those that have the more common 52mm or larger lenses can use a STEP UP RING to fit the larger filter on the NEX lenses and share your filters.

you will still need to rotate the CPL to a certain degree to see through the reflections

Yup yup, rotate them till you get the desired amount of clarity.

I used mine at a seaside and tiny sand particles got beached on the CPL. Blew away some of these sand beach bums and.. i took the chance to put the CPL sweat.gif under the tap of running water to wash away the stubborn ones. Thankfully no water got in between the 2 rotating glass elements, maybe Marumi DHG's are sealed up pretty good so no worries running them under the tap.

Hi guys! First time checking in as new owner of NEX 7 + black 18200 LE! Pls put me in the owner list biggrin.gif

My original plan is to get the nex7 with CZ 24mm.. but 24mm no stock everywhere.. and the shop manage to convince me to get the 18200LE for my trip. The lens look surprisingly good and proportionate on the nex7, especially with the black finish. I didnt get the kit lens set because my gf already has a kit lens on her C3. So I can use her pancake + kit.

I need some opinion here. I am still thinking to get a prime lens. I love to shoot prime. Do you think I should just stick to the cz24mm idea.. or should I go for some other manual lens... such as the voigtlander 35mm F1.2 /F1.4 I think the cost is almost similar.. I dont mind manual focus as long as the photo taken has nice character to it. Is the CZ really the best choice? Actually I kinda hate the CZ to be in 24mm instead of 35mm. 24mm a bit wide for my liking.

for 35mm u could get the sal35f/1.8 and the LA-EA2 , much much less than the CZ and with the adapter should be around the price of voightlander. the build quality is not premium but the IQ is good good , not as contrasty as zeiss but still good for its price biggrin.gif . you could benefit from the LA-EA2 also for all alpha lenses thumbup.gif

or the Sigma 30 f/1.4 or the Samyang 35 f/1.4 (but its huge) or the ZM lenses which might cost more than CZ24mm biggrin.gif

old old pic, kenot find good ones from flickr coz expired d doh.gif

Now I mostly use Voigtlander Leica-M mount 28mm F2.0, backup by the SEL30F35 for macro shots.
Quite like the Voigtlander 28F2.0, compact size, sharp image! i found 28mm-30mm is about our human eye view angle.
Now most of my other classic prime lenses are sitting in Dry cabinet because can't beat its compact size. Considering put them in WTS later....

Quite true if the water is clear enough u can see fish, but I think without that u also can see fish. One thing about cpl, I blive it using same technology on our LCD watch screen, u try turn Ur cpl while look into Ur electronic watch, it turn full black. It limit the direction of light, so reflection at diff direction will be blocked. I got a hoya cpl also, but very less use it

the name says it all... Circular Polarizing Filter... it filters away light at 90 degree angles, if you stacked TWO CPLs together, and aligned 90 degrees to each other, you will see nothing. all black, meaning 100% of light totally filtered off.

Thats not an option for me.. I have already sold all my Alpha lenses for the reason to cut down size on smaller nex body. So wont make much sense if I still get an adapter n buy Alpha lens might as well I get A77 in first place tongue.gif I already have a 18200mm which is Huge for Nex. What im looking now is a "walkaround" lens 24-35mm range which is light and carry eveyrwhere I go. I think that will make the Nex serve its purpose more. Btw ur cat is so cute.. funnny expression haha

Maybe I used the wrong phrase.. Shouldnt use "hate" because it is such a strong word. What I mean is if it is 35mm range I will prefer more maybe because use to it already. not until Hate. just not that preferable
