It is just an f/4... compared to the previous 17-35 f/2.8 at similar pricing... :S

You're in luck... my recent posts are all from the 16-35 f/4 lols.

errr bean, correct me i'm wrong 16-35mm in FX is the equiv to 12-24mm in DX if mounted on its respective FX/DX body yes? The DX FOV of a 16-35mm is about the same as 18-55mm DX kitlens.... hmm.gif

exactly. im in the midst funding for full frame camera, in which i need to sell my 1224 for FX wide lens. 1635 is in my mind rite now, with the reviews in the net, its quite tempting.

ur question is abit pelik but i assume ur asking this

the 16-35mm on FX equals to 16-35mm FOV

the 16-35mm on DX (needs to x1.5 crop factor) equals to 24-53mm

so if the 12-24 on a DX means its equal to 18-36mm on FX

DX lens on DX body - need *1.5
DX lens on FX body - no need
FX lens on DX body - need *1.5
FX lens on FX body - no need

conclusion... FX lens or DX lens is just state suitable on what body instead of need or no need *1.5 crop factor? rclxub.gif

16-35 is good on FX as a UWA. But on a DX its not here not there. I used D90 + 16-35 before... it becomes extra large kit lens with better optics.

i think calculation kena based on what body you use...DX FX label on lens just tell you can mount on what only...
if DX lens on DX body no need do crop factor, then the focal range of the lens label need have 2 set of calculation then the fomula will be...

DX lens on DX body - no need
DX lens on FX body - need /1.5
FX lens on DX body - need *1.5
FX lens on FX body - no need

i think will more confusing tongue.gif

Yeap, the 2 pics taken outdoor on the ship are 6400 ISO. No choice, its kinda dark :S and this lens is just f/4... plus the ship is moving so I need higher shutter to prevent blur.

You're talking about Nikon's FX sensor... sure la awesome ISO performance xD. I don't remember applying noise reduction on these... unless by default there is la.

To put it simple, all the lens is 35mm Focal Length.
So, doesn't matter the lens is micro 4/3, APS-C, APS-H, Full Frame, etc. Even Compact camera...
So, depending on the SENSOR SIZE, you need to multiply the crop factor to get the 35mm Format Focal Length.
If you get a micro 4/3, the lens you will notice 14-42mm, which if you multiple by the crop factor (e.g. X2) = 28-84mm

actually was wonderng why IrB wanted to get the 16-35mm as he already has the 12-24mm, since he is moving to FX, it actually answers the question which I put up to confuse him..... rclxms.gif

Need advice.

Was thinking of getting a used 12-24 or tokina new 11-16 which price range around rm2k. Instead of getting the lens for my d7000, do u think I should instead get a j1 with 10mm or 10-30mm? Need wide lens mainly for indoor shoot. Am no expert is smaller sensor etc but just need to know if I take with a j1 with 10mm lens against above lens, would the out turn of size(not mentioning the quality etc) after develop the picture would b the same, 4r or 8r ?

10-30mm is not wide since it's a 2.7x crop, so it's an effective 27mm to 81mm smile.gif
