I sent a secured email to Citibank to request them to lower my credit card sms alert from the current RM499 to RM1 but guess what ? It is Citibank's policy that they only provide sms alert for all transaction of at least RM201 doh.gif

QUOTE(Denis @ May 30 2012, 10:21 AM)
Can anyone tell me what to do about it:-

1) In April 2012, I called to MBB that I wanted SMS Alert with the threshold at RM10.
The CS said OK, but no SMS feedback to tell that you SMS Alert was on.
All my transaction did not have any SMS Alert after that.

2). In the beginning of May 2012, I called again, the CS told me that my SMS Alert feature was on but the Alerts did not account for petrol consumption.
So far, no SMS Alert for either petrol consumption or any other transactions purchase at the counters.

3) Just few days ago, I called back and asked the CS why there was no SMS Alert for all my transactions, she said that because there was  no record for my mobile phone number and need to take one week to do the processing.
Weird to the answer that no mobile phone number on the system, (curious on this: the previous CS had already gotten my number and update into the system...)

I feel that there is something wrong with the MBB SMS Alert System... rclxub.gif
*
continues from the above....
4). Continued called to MBB. After checking, the cs told me to wait for a moment, She wrote a report instantly to MBB Information Technology Department without delay, then she said that I am going to get the notification after 3 working days later.

After 3 working days, finally I received the notification yesterday saying the my SMS ALERT is successful.

MBB SMS ALert system is the toughest bank I had ever deal regarding the SMS Alert. mad.gif

P/S: As long as you haven't received your SMS acknowledgment that your SMS Alert feature is successful, you will never get the SMS Alert for all transactions (including irregular transactions) even through u had requested for SMS Alert feature to be on and had recorded on their computer system.

One question, will the transactions incurred by the supplementary cards be alerted to the principal card holder's phone call?
As far as I know, for HSBC, yes, the transaction incurred by the supplementary will notify the principal holders.

Bro, in the first post I have mentioned that Citibank minimum amount for SMS is RM200 and can request by phone or you can do it yourself online.

What other bank did you find it easier to set the default value to RM10?

Actually I on the other hand find that MBB is the easiest to set default value to RM1. One don't need to fill in any form (unlike OCBC, HLB and Alliance) but just simply call them once for ALL MBB cards. I call once and that's it.

CIMB, as of today they still refuse to set my default value to below RM500 even tho I have requested it twice over the phone doh.gif

As for supp card, you can instruct the bank to sent the SMS to your phone.

What I mean tough to deal with MBB Alert System is they tend to refuse to offer some card holders to set on SMS Alert. SMS Alert is supposing to be a MUST for all bank to the card holders as the law set up by Bank Negara.

MBB seems to ignore this rule and I did not get any SMS Alert for all the transactions.
I haven't received any SMS Alert since the 1st time I used the card.

I haven't received any SMS Alert when I did a irregular transaction amounting to RM 5600 in one transaction.
I haven't received any SMS Alert when I did a irregular transaction amounting to RM 8000++ in one transaction.

You can't set default value, but I didn't have any SMS Alert notification for any transaction despite numerous attempt to do so, which one is more serious? doh.gif

Bro, you should call Maybank and ask them to set your default value to RM1 and within 3 days or so you should receive an sms. However, if you have requested for it and did receive the sms, something must be wrong. I have no issue in receiving SMS for any of my transactions with MBB card (last use was last weekend at JJ for less than RM150 with MBB 2 AMEX).

I did not receive SMS alert for one oversea online transaction. After lodging a complain with BNM, MBB replied saying that no SMS because it was a recurring transaction. I refuted the claim as it was a one off transaction and only the secon time doing online transaction. Now still pending reply.

I did not notice that sweat.gif

Anyway, Hye had problems with Maybank setting his sms default value to RM1 too. Not sure if it's been resolved though.

It's not just Maybank but a number of other banks too such as Citibank doh.gif

Why don't you call Maybank (or visit the bank) and find out whether you have a credit card with them or not?
Asking such questions here will not solve your problems and if you do have a problem then obviously you are not being smart (instead lazy) by asking here and not taking the right step to solve your problem.

Wonder why SCB gave the slow SMS Alert respone, after swiping the card, have to wait for a few minutes. Whereas, MBB and OCBC are able to give the instant Alert. As long as u swipe in the cards, their computerized system are able to give u the instant alert.

Some recent SMS alerts received using MBB-2-CC thumbup.gif

1) RM100+ Pay DBKL assessment at MBB Treats Fair at Mid Valley.

2) RM1k+ Pay service car at C&C for friend (get 5x TP brows.gif )

Those without SMS: doh.gif

i) Tesco, AEON Jusco groceries

ii) Reload CBTL card

iii) Pump Esso petrol multiple times

iv) All those auto-billing like TNB, Maxis, Telekom

v) Spendings at KLIA/LCCT duty free for cigarettes/alcohol/chocolate.

From my observation, the amount does not matter. Perhaps they use a system to eliminate out regular expenses or patterns.

One week after snail-mail the form for HLB SMS Transaction Alert, I received SMS for swipes with my HLB today... Submitting the form thru HLB branch is useless.
