hmm..that's weird. Maybe then we have to start looking into the paid VPN options now if we still want to use netflix or hulu plus here in malaysia. i heard unblock-us or strongvpn is quite good but i haven't tried it personally yet.

My trial period just expired and I just started to subscribe to Netflix, but now can't be accessible via AppleTV. Though I still can watch using AirPlay mirror... Will explore other VPN / DNS services

Can EON debit card use to subscribe netflix? must i register a US address apple ID? then can use local credit card for that ID?

I'm on unotelly for free trial, so far so good.

updated ATV3 to latest version..
and the Hulu Plus and Netflix streaming is smooth..
not buffering every now and there :-)

Doesnt state anything about netflix in the update released note.

i've no idea..but im happy for the 'smooth' streaming :-)

Presently only apple tv 2 can be jailbroken, apple tv 3 not yet.

I too was really disheartened and since i paid for netflix, i knew i had to find something else so that my entertainment needs would not be shattered. The answer to this is proxydns.co
Tried it since yesterday and works like a charm on netflix and all other geo-blocked content as well. It's free! Change your DNS to 74.207.242.213 and voila!

no worries mate. streaming quality from netflix has improved tremendously recently. They did some upgrade to their systems about 10 days ago. at home i use unifi 5mbps, no problem, no buffering. at my office i use 20mbps unfi, also no problem. good quality.

guys im planing to get a Apple TV, my question is since 3rd gen havent JB yet, so no chance to install XBMC. so is there any possible way to watch MKV file? i have alot of MKV (DTS) file stored in my HTPC. can i able to watch all those in ATV3?
how about the network speed for this ATV3 does streaming HD bluray movies smooth?

U can view mkv file on apple tv using media server app..for now i use plex app (can be downloaded from the appstore) to stream mkv movies to my ipad then airplay it to apple tv.
Maybe other forumer got simpler solution can share with us..? cheers

bump for ATV2

I'm using sublr to mux mkv file to mp4/m4v format including adding of sub title. Sublr will just need to convert audio to AAC. I'm using MBP 13 2011, to convert a 1 hr 1080p mkv to m4v, takes about 1 min.

Add the m4v file to your itunes, using home sharing, you will be able to watch 1080p m4v flawlessly. Both wireless from mbp to appletv. I'm using Cisco E4200 router.
