This was reported in The Star yesterday.....wonder if this has anything to do with the delay? If it comes true, the value of CBU 1.8L cars may drop in future??? Maybe I should hold out for a VW?

'The analyst said the Government might remove the condition of having a RM150,000 basement price for the 1.8-litre and above passenger car segment.

“This would boost demand for such cars, as the foreign carmaker can sell such cars at more competitive prices,” he said.'

I am not quite understand about this. Currently even the D-seg car can be had under 140k (Sonata LS). Is there such a thing that minimum price for that particular segment is 150k? shocking.gif
Maybe you can wait for the CKD Jetta... Now 150k so maybe CKD will bring it below 130k

Got internal memo mentioning about a delay, citing official reason that they're building up more stock to meet the estimated increase in demand for Elantra.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

They also mention about the unit being displayed at Mid Valley. Something caught my attention is that the memo mentioned the Elantra is assembled in a modernised Inokom plant that also guess what? Assembles Japanese car.

I don't know which model, but a lot of long time eternal Inokom hater probably shot themselves in the foot driving in an Inokom assembled Japanese car.

Reduce Import Tax, Increase Excise Duty to balance back out, what's the difference? smile.gif

I think SD really should make another announcement publicly if the car cannot be launched in Feb. They made an official announcement saying that the car will be launched latest by Feb but if they decide not to make another announcement, the claim previously made will be pretty pointless.

Inokom plant is assembling Mazda 3 and Mazda 3 is selling poorly. So most people don't care much about Mazda 3
The all-new Mazda3 began rolling out of the production line in January 2011 at the Inokom assembly plant in Kedah, where production is expected to be 3,000 units a year.

I beg to differ on the selling poorly part, I've been seeing sharp increase in Mazda 3 on the road recently that any other cars, I actually see more of the latest Mazda 3 than the Altis on the road.

The Elantras are hiding behind the private stockyard blocked by other cars and not accessible by the public.

Actually, that's what I thought too. I'm sure there are 1.8L cars under 150K . Then maybe they're talking about CBU units??

I referred to the sales chart. Mazda 3 CKD was launched back in March 2011 and 1960units was sold until end of 2011. Altis 5612 Civic 6553 Sylphy 2672. Or maybe I should say it is not selling as good as the top performer.

Well, according to data from MAA, the Mazda 3 is selling on average 140-160 cars. This trend has been like this since July 2011 until now. No sharp increase in sales. Maybe around the area that you travel la, but overall no significant change.
