It works, i have tried it before. This method basically tunes your drum to the lowest point when it starts to have sing - when the wrinkles start to disappear. Then you fine tune it to your liking, but it's a starting point.
*
Ooo ... Thanks a lot. At least for the time being I don't have to worry so much about tuning when I get my drums tongue.gif

The Drumdials help to a certain degree, ie it gets you in the correct range but you still need to use your ear to fine tune.

The tune bot is an interesting one, it provides more precise tuning but i don't think it's available here in Malaysia.
*
Yea Tune Bot interesting...

Maybe I wanna get this instead of Drumdial.

Its actually a second hand set. Owner shifting to KL and he doesn't want to bring it along. He bought it from Ebony for an undisclosed price but I got it for 1.8k with a set of solar cymbals
I'll go take a photo later biggrin.gif.

Also, is anyone here interested in a set of drum microphones? Here's a link to my thread. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2620945

Hey! I played on a Tama RhythmMate last night at The Pool, KL with Hardcandy. It was a fun gig, to say the least smile.gif Didn't take pictures of the setup, but there will be photos up soon of the show.

I'm leaving for Hard Rock Cafe, for my soundcheck for my show tonight there, in about fifteen minutes. Will take pictures of the setup there this time, I promise. wink.gif HAHA.

biggrin.gif. You do shows on a nightly basis? What kind of shows do you do?. I forgot to take a picture and my room is occupied by my brother now doh.gif I swear I'll get a picture by today.

Also, my neighbour is kind of complaining about the noise I make. Can you guys teach me basic techniques for reducing escaped sound?

Just silence your kit...but it will sound bad IMO...and feel a bit different then the real deal.

Nope, depends on my sessions. smile.gif Its usually a lot of shows in a row, then a few breaks here and there. smile.gif

Here's the kit for tonight! It's a Japanese Yamaha. I think its a Birch Custom. Soundcheck just finished. Sounds killer. Remo heads on it. biggrin.gif Can't wait to start playing.

Looks like Zildjian and Sabian cymbals.

One rack and 2 floor toms? Normally I see 2 rack and and 1 Floor.

Was at Ikea today and bought a piece of rug. Didn't wanna set up the drums first and then buy the rug tongue.gif

Me and my wife went to scout around for some cymbals yesterday. Was at Ultimate Music, I was keen on the Stagg SH set [Bronze], but they did not have stock for them. Ken recommended the DXK set for RM890, my wife liked the sound of the cymbals. It's obviously brighter than the SH. But the thing is it is Brass.

JS has their J Basic cymbals. But I don't know how they sound.

Then, today at IPC we saw Meinl HCS going for RM800 and Sabian AAX set for RM3780 shocking.gif

Whats the best-bang-for-the-buck-cymbals under RM1k? icon_question.gif

Zildjian K custom? hmm.gif

I agree with your choice of getting a rug before a drum set.

I made that mistake biggrin.gif My bass drum moves all the time now when i step a little harder.

When do you guys start going into double pedal? I mostly play hard rock, rock and metal so I find a pair of double pedals being essential.

I tried songs like Sugar We're Going Down Swinging and it still seems a little too hard on a single pedal. I also have trouble maintaining my hi-hat's speed when i tap my pedal too quickly, Well that IS a beginners problem as I've only started drumming about 2 months ago(in my friend's house with his Tama ImperialStar).

But, I find it easy to maintain my speed with double pedals as I've played with them almost since the first time i touched actual drums. Any insight? hmm.gif
