Hihi, im new in breeding shrimp just started recently, kbut keep seeing all my shrimps die 1 by 1 daily haihz.

Im im leaving my aquarium in my living room at ground floor do i ned a chilling fan, as i doesnt really test my ph or wadever.
Is it fine for me to use filter water from my tap , or do i ned any thing extra.
Btw im breeding shrimp with fish like neon tetra and smaller tropic fish, im juz scared they are aggressive or is it juz not suitable to the tempreture and PH .


HELP me SIFU's what should i do.

MAy i knw, what vegetable shrimps eat? Those in pasar, do i need to rendam in air to clean the pesticides?

i believe thats your problem,unless ur filter can eliminate chlorine..

you need antichlorine... nutrafin aquaplus is the best i think... n 2L bottles cost ard rm70 only... can last more than a year i think....

-at least you need a thermometer to measure the water temperature. 28C below is da best.
-use anti chlorine, it will remove not just chlorine, heavy metal, chloramine.
-neon tetra still ok, but you cant breed shrimp with them, they will eat the little one.
-get test kit to measure your water parameter.

try organic vegetable.

Added on May 31, 2012, 1:16 amNo pasar veggie , only use pure organic veg. i recommend spinach, get it from organic shop, clean it then boil for 5min, drain out water
then put into a plastic container and store in the fridge for 24hrs, feed them one/half leaf a day(depend livestock qty).

Tell us more about your tank? size ? cycled ? how long the tank be setup? what substract you use if any? type of filter & media used? aeration provided?

Get the API master test kit(for FRESHWATER) (cost around rm100++), you need it to monitor your tank cycling process.

You want fish then forget about breeding shrimps, fish food is alot cheaper then feeding them shrimplets.
Provide us those info then we talk.

Not too nice. but ok lor. just ordinary lfs.huhu. my tank stabilize oredi. put in two red cherry shrimp yesterday. ok jer. but one being sucked by the filter as i forgot to put in the sponge at the water inlet. RIP to the shrimp in the filter.huhu

darn u, sponge only cost rm1.20...so save ka...hahaha
what filter did u use?

last week, i found 3 cherries in my HOB filter, still survive thou.
dont know how they manage to escape the rotating impeller.

still they can slip through the sponge

i'll check the shrimp once i get home.huhu

huuh.hows malayan shrimp?ok hah? got same feature like sisaiko one or not?

as i said, i got only the juvenile 1. so the pattern still not visible yet.
now every night i'll check my HOB, afraid the shrimp got suck.

It is safe. Got lots of rcs in my crypt tank. Only if the crypt is freshly bought from lfs its better to quarantine for a while before planting just in case there are pesticide that can kill the shrimps.


They seem to love cucumber. very easy just wash and peel the skin.

but that was a old thread

can't be 100% sure , but one things you need to beware of crypt is melting, when newly planted they normally melt & rot then grow back, this is the major concern cos it pollute the water which can kill sensitive shrimp like crs unless a good filtration is in place to handle the sudden extra bio-load.
I do have 2 stabilized crypt currently in my 2ft tank with over 200 shrimp & shrimplet, no dead due to this crypt so far.

Imho, i won't introduce crypt to established tank with shrimps esp. crs , the melting issue is hard to swallow.
