add me in!!
i bought my 6c19tx 8 hours ago ... initially i ordered from HP online but saw that delivery takes 10-14 days called them after 1 hour to cancel it .. hahaha and pays for the penalty .. bad then went to mobility in PJ and bought for 3199 3 year warranty HP online sells 3099 with 1 year warranty .. i guess mobility extra RM100 for 2 years warranty is worth it! but how do u use the switchable graphic ya? i play Return Of Warrior RPG, but the setting only identifies the Intel graphic ... how do I switch to AMD instead? Hi everyone,
i am looking for a laptop now, and have been considering the dv6-6c12TX. do you guys think its good enough to do some auto cad designing work? you guys dont talk about the 12TX here. need some input from you guys before i pull the trigger its around the same price as the envy 17, so im quite confused about that as well. QUOTE(simsim @ Jan 6 2012, 12:15 PM) Hi everyone, For CAD work, I would probably go with the Envy17 and use it as a desktop replacement. I believe the Envy17 comes with a 1920x1080 full-HD display? My opinion is this would be better for CAD work compared with the 1366x768 resolution of the dv6-6c12TX. i am looking for a laptop now, and have been considering the dv6-6c12TX. do you guys think its good enough to do some auto cad designing work? you guys dont talk about the 12TX here. need some input from you guys before i pull the trigger its around the same price as the envy 17, so im quite confused about that as well. If you need something portable that you can bring around with a full-HD display, the dv6-6168tx is the way to go. It's got a bright and sharp 15.6-inch 1920x1080 display that (for me) renders lines and colors nicely. |

yeah i agree about the screen, but i can just output to a monitor no? envy 17 has 1gb gpu the 12tx has 2gb... i cant seem to find the benchmarking. or i guess i can try dv7.. around the same specs but 17.3 inches. This post has been edited by simsim: Jan 6 2012, 03:31 PM |

If the Envy17 was the same size as the MacBook Pro 17, that's what I would have gotten.
The metal bracelet of my watch is scratching the dark umber finish to the left of the trackpad. Has anyone here tried applying protective clear stickers to this area? Like a cellphone screen protector? |

It's got a bright and sharp 15.6-inch 1920x1080 display that (for me) renders lines and colors nicely. I have opinion on top of that. Indeed higher resolution screen will be great and a bigger screensize would be great but all back to how the user want it to be. 1. higher native resolution, Full HD, is best bet in this case IF user do it the CAD job on laptop screen (means he need mobility while doing CAD work). Else it can be achieve by having and external 23" FHD monitor if he do CAD work at home only and yet still want a laptop for other purpose to use as mobile. 2. bigger screen, 15" vs 17", 17" indeed better and less strain on eye, but still 17" means very little mobility, and for my personal opinion, why don't just get a desktop if its means to replace a real desktop (personally dont prefer 17" as i rather get a real desktop than 17" coz it really defeat most of the purpose of a laptop). And 17" laptop is really not mobile at all (or i should say minimal mobility)... BIG and HEAVY... So as a conclusion of my personal opinion, i'll get either - get any 15" laptop which have FHD, if want a nicer screen then go for better monitor range, example Envy FHD (instead of Pavillion FHD) = if wanna do most of the work on mobile - get any 15" laptop, dont need to be full HD screen, and get a nice 23" IPS external monitor = if only work at home and still want mobile for surfing or other presentation purpose - get a desktop with 23" IPS monitor = if only want it for work and dont need mobility 1 final thing is have to consider is price therefore - price vs mobility vs screensize vs screen resolution vs overall specs vs usage anyway just my opinion.... as this is very individual taste/thinking/mindset... no right and wrong This post has been edited by vincentlaw: Jan 6 2012, 04:01 PM |

QUOTE(simsim @ Jan 6 2012, 03:25 PM) If you need a GPU with 2GB DDR5, check out the dv6-6168tx with the full-HD screen. Specs are here: h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?tmp_forceView=desktop&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c02981967&lc=en&product=5173806&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory. It's got a 6770M GPU, which for CAD work is probably the same as the 7690M of the dv6-6c12TX. I think the advantages of the 7690M will be more apparent during high framerate gaming rather than CAD. The benchmarks could show this. Added on January 6, 2012, 4:27 pm QUOTE(vincentlaw @ Jan 6 2012, 03:48 PM) +1 to you comment Yup, I agree. I have opinion on top of that. It can always be connected to an external monitor for full-HD viewing. I think there are small netbooks with Core i7 processors. These should work just fine. Although the best would be to have one with the NVidia Quadro GPU. I was told these are best for CAD work. This post has been edited by elco-ph: Jan 6 2012, 04:27 PM |
