If you disable Pagefile, will you run out of RAM?

I've been filtering my startups so that it boots faster (which it does) but I realized something that really makes my processing speed slow. Whenever I start Chrome, everything starts going slower. Might be some memory hog or something I dunno.

How do you disable Pagefile?

Only in Chrome? I just removed and did a clean installation of Chrome Canary. Previously it used 1GB RAM even when i only have 2-3 tabs opened. doh.gif
Now it use around 600MB. laugh.gif

Try Opera browser? brows.gif

Alright, disabled Pagefile and everything seems to be going SLIGHTLY more smoothly. I still run out of RAM though (very evident when Chrome is open even with 1 tab).

I've tried Opera ages ago. Didn't like the 'feel' of it haha.

EDIT: Sticking with Firefox for now. Less lag.

Are you having 4 or 8GB ram? Not advisable to disable pagefile with 4GB as it runs out of memory pretty easily. I've had zero issues disabling pagefile on 8gb ram with chrome, firefox, itunes and a game running simultaneously, even with multiple tabs in chrome.

4GB RAM.

I've temporarily abandoned Chrome for the moment and switched to Firefox. There's free memory left when I use Firefox. None with Chrome.

Guess I'm switching browsers for now. Everything seems to be back to normal now.

when i was with 4gb ram, everytime start up, almost 2gb gone. now with 8gb, most of the time the ram usage is around 25% only (2gb)

firefox will also lag when it is hogging few hundred mb of RAM, usually happens when you open lots of tabs. with SSD, things will be better. lol

You can check out this link. But equalizers are all about personal preferences, keep that in mind as everyone has a different taste in how they want their music to sound smile.gif

When my DV6 was new, I really disliked how it sounded. Very thin, no bass, little midrange, and harsh.

I used an RTA (real-time analyzer) app on my iPhone4. I pointed the bottom of the iPhone (where the mic is) towards the laptop while it was playing "pink noise." Pink noise sounds like static between old TV stations and is a collection of all sound frequencies at the same level.

The RTA app showed a big boost in the high frequencies, which I toned down with the Beats EQ. When I got to something resembling "flat" on the RTA, everything started sounding good on my DV6. Vocals come out nicely. Cymbals no longer splash and crash. smile.gif

Hope this helps. smile.gif

I'm using the old 11.10 WHQL release. I don't have games installed in my DV6, but I use PowerDVD and VLC a lot. Will I experience any improvements with 12.2 WHQL? smile.gif

Wow.. neat application. Is there similar app for android? =\

You not gonna see any improvement with PowerDVD and VLC i guess. He claimed this driver fixed "Driver not responding" problem with Fixed switching and you can play BF3 without crashing. I haven't play BF3 to test it yet but many comments said BF3 didn't crash anymore.

I've yet to get "driver not responding" with this driver.

Hi guys, I have been using this laptop (dv6108tx) for almost a year. I have a problem here, my laptop can reach up to 8x for normal drama watching, not full HD, it's just rmvb file. Is this normal? I have CM U3, fans on by the way. Would appreciate if anyone could help! smile.gif

Oh another issue. This time with AMD CCC I think. For some reason, my GC is always stuck with High Performance GPU. I can't manually set it back to the Intel GC even after clicking Power Saving GPU on CCC. I'm thinking it's a CCC issue so.....

Should I just reinstall CCC? If so, which version?

Any application using hardware acceleration running?

Anyway.. you can try disabling HD6770M in Device Manager to switch to Intel HD. Enable it to switch back to AMD.

Media Player Classic under K-lite codec pack. Idle lowest 40C, highest 63C. Gaming temperature can up to 90 degree, on average it's 8x something. Anyhow I can increase the fan speed of U3? It's quite slow actually.

Can u open task manager and check if there is any other process utilizing the cpu?
Depend on what game u playing, intensive game like BF3 will hit over 90c if u're playing with TurboBoost enabled.

If the fan speed controller at max speed already then i don't think you can increase the speed anymore unless u mod it and use bigger/powerful fan.

I suggest u use to Leshcat's 12.2 UP5. It come with latest Intel HD driver too. tongue.gif
You don't need to install HP driver with it. Do check Leshcat's FAQs page.

Yup, there is. Here you go: http://androidapplications.com/9289-rta-audio-analyzer smile.gif

I guess I'll wait for Leshcat's next releases that have improvements on video playback before I update my video drivers. I am currently having no bluescreen problems when waking up from hibernate with my current drivers. smile.gif
