Seiko chrono with tachymeter less than 1k, quartz.

After owning 2 automatics, don't think I can stand looking at hands that tick.

Anyone feels the same?

Yes I feel the same. The next levels are hi-beat and spring drive. 21600 bph felt jerky but acceptable. However, 2 years ago I bought a digital watch to wear. Nostalgic reason smile.gif it reminded me during the 80s, seiko digital watches were like rolex to me

Yes G-shock was THE watch that seems unreachable for me during school times. Now that I can afford it, just can't imagine wearing it. Maybe buy one for the sake of 'old dreams'.

pimp it man! G-Shocks the bomb, great for weekends and activities. go swimming, gymming, running, clubbing with it!

just don't get caught wearing it with a shirt.

It depends.. like my wife is lazy to adjust the watches whenever she wants to wear one... so... end up looking for a quartz to use daily sweat.gif

I agree. But for me having 2 Auto's is max I think. then can use alternately.

BTW, so no one has heard of Troika eh? guess its too cheap to talk about huhu... I thought it would have been a good Beater watch.

@deriku,

just a random question. since i noticed you have a seiko monster, and a laco miyota.

just to compare both its movements, the 7S36 and the miyota 821A, in terms of the rotor "smooth-ness", the sweep of the second hand, and accuracy, how far apart do you rate them?

thanks mate.

My experience and observation.
Miyota rotor is more noisy and some reported stutter on hands.
Accuracy wise both ok.

thanks for the input. i recently saw a youtube vid of a laco miyota, and the rotor seems to spin effortlessly. unlike the 7S26/36 which needs a little more than mere gravity to make it move wink.gif hence the question if the miyota is better than the seiko.

rotor smoothness doesnt really matter, but it does give you a nice feel of the watch tho. tongue.gif

thanks again ck77. i noticed that you sold your miyota B dail. any particular reason? sorry for being a little nosy eh. cool2.gif

Guys,

My orient uses 40a50 movement which is in-house. Does it mean it's designed from scratch up? Not based on any movement?

Well considering that most of the time when I glance at my watch to tell the time, I don't spend more than 2 seconds looking at it, so the ticking seconds hand of a quartz really don't bother me.
The exception are Swatch watches, which are terribly loud. Used to stress me out to no end when I was sitting for my exams in school haha.

Of course there are also the times when I've got nothing better to do and I just look and listen to my automatics blush.gif
