QUOTE(Chinoz @ Oct 30 2012, 01:41 PM) All the more reason why you should get a dive watch soon-ish. These days, you really never know when someone is gonna come round the corner and chuck you into a pool. Wouldn't want to be caught with your nice leather watch when that happens I'm sure Not to mention random floods or tsunami... If we can't survive, better make sure our watch does...

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Oct 30 2012, 11:23 AM) What about desk diving? What's your take? funny how ppl use the term desk diving...and loath dive watches. then they go wear aviation watches...but cant fly a plane for nuts or never been to the moon and back. or wear chronographs, but the only thing they time is how fast it takes for the pizza to arrive.

desk diving A term used in the watch collecting community to refer to scuffs, scratches, and wear to a watches bracelet received while sitting at an office desk. These marks are considered normal wear and tear and are usually received while typing as the bracelet rubs the desk. The term comes from the popularity of diving watches that are worn not for diving purposes, but for aesthetic ones in the office.

^I suppose the argument is similar to people who have never dived in their life wearing dive watches.
An iphone would be more pragmatic than a slide rule, so I've never bothered learning all the functions. Unless of course I get straneded on an island and need to do something Macgyver-esque.
