Have you considered Seiko's? Like the ones from their diver's range.

On another note.. being a watch noob... I think I know why a Patek and a Seiko is priced so differently.
The reason for the difference

Seiko makes more than 10 million watches annually under several brands.
Patek Phillipe around 38,000 watches per year.
But if you only count Seiko's high end watch production from Shizuku-ishi Watch Studio;
30,000 units per year.

Hi everyone,

Cutting straight to the point, this will be another recommendation post and I know how much fun you guys have with these ( : .

So details that I think will be useful:

-Budget ~RM12-13k (or SGD 5k)
-Metal Bracelet
-New
-42mm or less
-Mechanical
-Black Dial
-Chronograph not important but wouldn't mind

I basically want to step up in the wonderful world of horology. I purchased a Maurice Lacroix at the beginning of the year which basically served as my gateway drug into this unhealthy but at the same time very fulfilling obsession.

Any suggestions will be more than welcomed. I'm not asking for someone to choose a watch for me but I just want to know my options for fear of missing out on a better piece. Can someone hold my hand while I take this small step? tongue.gif

Anyone wearing Ball? I'm looking for good watch for my wedding, so i would like an opinion from those using Ball. How was it? My budget would be around 5-10k, but i would like to keep it as low as possible tongue.gif

You have just described an IWC Baby Pilot (new)
Your budget also puts you into the territory of a "Like new" Zenith El Primero (which would be my personal choice)

I hope people who wear Rolex have not lost their sense of humor......

In addition, I did not make my previous remark to offend anyone. I was merely jesting. Ok, I'm not in the same league as Don Rickles..
Please accept my sincerest apologies if I have offended you or any Rolex owners here.

Back to topic.
Can you elaborate further on the mystique on the certain models that you have in mind?

Hey buddy non offence taken... i enjoy peoples different perceptions of the Rolex brand...a very love or hate thing as everyone has grown up knowing about Rolex smile.gif New knowledge and differing opinions is exactly they type of thing most ppl are looking for in forums.

When thinking mystique of the Rolex brand the Daytona instantly comes to mind...
Its been documented all over the net... the old zenith movement.... the paul newman connection... the waiting lists and obscene prices... the asian obsession with the black dial versions...

RM 12K -RM 13K is what I would call a yuppie trap. What you get at this range are hyped up ETA movement. Really expensive mass produced factory pieces specifically to trap those yuppies who has lots of free cash to spend. You want something good...

up your ante to RM 20K, now you get into the range of JLC or Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece or Pontos range. This is your entry level to real haute horologie.

If not,

think a little outside the box....

Try Nomos Glashutte (Deutche) or look the Japanese way... Royal Orient.
