Guys/Gals,
A COSC certified Valjoux 7750 watch sells for RM 2K more than its non COSC couterpart. Mt question is whether this extra RM 2K is worth it? Xuzen |

QUOTE(gladfly @ Apr 25 2012, 02:21 PM) +1. Thanks gladfly. I will from now on think only In-house. 7750 is a crono. Are u worried that the crono may not be accurate? To me COSC is overrated. Of course its set a benchmark but then again if accuracy is important ..might as well go for a quartz. If I am not mistaken , COSC needs to bewithin -1/+4 sec a day. Like the poster above said....the difference will not matter if you have to wind the watch once you left it after 2 days as you have to reset the time. I have never checked all my watches for accuracy to the second.....its just a waste of time. I rather spend the extra $$$ on a in house movement... Xuzen |

QUOTE(Chinoz @ Jun 4 2012, 09:44 AM) I was at the Pavillion and I handled the Reverso range today. It is very very poisonous. I handled the Ultra Thin and Grand Reverso range. If RM 25K, is my budget, my choices are i) Grand Seiko Spring-Drive. ii) Reverso series iii) Maurice lacroix Masterpiece series. Xuzen |

QUOTE(closer @ Sep 12 2012, 05:00 PM) Hi everyone, RM 12K -RM 13K is what I would call a yuppie trap. What you get at this range are hyped up ETA movement. Really expensive mass produced factory pieces specifically to trap those yuppies who has lots of free cash to spend. You want something good...Cutting straight to the point, this will be another recommendation post and I know how much fun you guys have with these ( : . So details that I think will be useful: -Budget ~RM12-13k (or SGD 5k) -Metal Bracelet -New -42mm or less -Mechanical -Black Dial -Chronograph not important but wouldn't mind I basically want to step up in the wonderful world of horology. I purchased a Maurice Lacroix at the beginning of the year which basically served as my gateway drug into this unhealthy but at the same time very fulfilling obsession. Any suggestions will be more than welcomed. I'm not asking for someone to choose a watch for me but I just want to know my options for fear of missing out on a better piece. Can someone hold my hand while I take this small step? up your ante to RM 20K, now you get into the range of JLC or Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece or Pontos range. This is your entry level to real haute horologie. If not, think a little outside the box.... Try Nomos Glashutte (Deutche) or look the Japanese way... Royal Orient. Xuzen |

QUOTE(yonggoh @ Sep 14 2012, 10:49 AM) But do explore the Zenith brand or even the Omega (Speedy Pro) for that sorta money... I do love Zenith El-Primero myself. But @ only RM 12-13K? Srsly?Definitely credible pieces IMHO As for Omega, I hate endorsement horologie... it makes it tacky & cheesy. I want a watch that looks good, not a watch that I think it looks good on Maria Sharapova therefore it looks good on me. Xuzen |

QUOTE(closer @ Sep 14 2012, 10:43 PM) Thanks for all the replies fellas! Always choose Malaysia for its no-tax consideration, but shopping in SG per se has its own charm. I do see where you are coming from with the above. From my own research, it seems like the budget I have set for myself is a very in between budget, not quite enough to take the next step up. I am considering freeing up some additional cash or I might postpone my purchase a couple of months ) : The Speedy has crossed my mind due to its heritage but I do prefer the Seamaster and PO more if I were to buy an Omega haha. That is just from looking at pictures though and will definitely take a look at the Speedy in real life this weekend. Anyway, no love for Tudor Black Bay/Pelagos? I know the movement is only ETA but damn they look pretty good (again from pictures) and are very reasonably priced. And also, from everyone's experiences, where would be the most ideal place to buy a watch, Malaysia, Singapore, or an international Airport? I only list airport as an option because everyone claims everything in the airport is cheaper Have a nice weekend everyone! I personally find the models in SG are newer. In Malaysia, you need to wait maybe half a year before seeing the new arrivals here. Xuzen |

I, too am a G-shock kind of guy. It goes so well with my hard cap and safety boots work attire.
I love mu G- shock to bits. Master of G series is my fav. Xuzen Added on October 5, 2012, 10:49 pmOne more point I want to add: Somehow wearing a a G-Shock esp the MoG series allows me to be with the boys. It is cool enough to garner WOWs without the embarassment of being seen as a show off or poser. Daytona or Pam will never allow me to be with the boys. Hello Yonggoh,
Since your are in the topic of accuracy, my seiko sportura kinetic chronograph is deviate 2 sec from USA atomic time even when I did not wear it for 3 days. Not to shabby eh for a USD 500 watch. Xuzen |

QUOTE(jason111785 @ Oct 25 2012, 04:58 PM) Planning to get either a Tissot V8 T039.417.11.057.02 or Certina Podium Big Size Quartz C001.617.11.057.00... Both are subsidiary of SWATCH & Co. So behind it all, the movements i.e. the engines are basically from the same factory. Both also around the same price tag.. anyone using these? It all boils down to which one is more pleasing to your eyes. Xuzen |
