so, called up customer service and forwarded my problem regarding most SD channels are fcuked up. All HD channels are working perfectly fine. The tech support told me within 48hours they'll send tech person to my place to get it fixed and its now close to 30hours.

Are they even gonna come?

Astro's SD is F..... up and its HD is not perfect either! In my 15 years with astro I dont think thats possible,if they attend to you in 48 hours well good for u,but I wonder what they can do to make SD better ..... hmm.gif keep us updated. If u cannot get SD channels then its the dish alignment which took 2 weeks for astro to send a installer/technician to my cousin's place.

I dont know how it happened. It happened 2 nite ago where it was about to heavy rain with storm and all..

wanted to watch vanila coklat on 103 (TV3). It's like the signal is not there. Signal lost like that. BUT, all HD channels all working fine! Until the storm came. Shuts off everything and went to sleep.

they should be waiting for all consumers change to the byond box. Once done, they would be able to use H264 and phase out mpeg-2 for good. thats only mho.

i think they did the calculations on the decoder box by pace?a bit too costly? maybe they have some other upcoming cheaper boxes with h264 support that im not aware of, nevertheless, its good for them to change to h264... look at unifi... its really stable and good (that is also because they maintained with 2Mbps).

well looking at those channels, most of them are pre-existing, perhaps those had exist will still be on mpeg-2. i dont see a reason for astro to waste extra bandwidth to specially cater mpeg4 channels when mpeg-2's exist.

I think its the same as current decoder, its just that the card would have been programmed for limited channels, which is free.

from my experience, I would strongly recommend to new astro subscribers to contact via a reseller, like those in LYN, rather than going to Astro directly, which is normally slower.

I had mine fix in less than 7 days! so did my friends who went thru resellers. WIth Astro direct, normally it takes abotu 2 weeks, and now being festive/holiday season, might be even longer.

No problem, another new Hindi or Tamil is comin up soon on starhub, a test card is now up and sandwiched between STAR Gold n Sun TV. Will update again.

There needs to be a change of management in Astro.....surely a better channel lineup means a better lure to new customers to take up their service......not sure Wat is in their head. wink.gif

Astro is very greedy,it wl only add channels which wl do business with them. Most of Indian channels hv been malaysianised, airtime sold to advertisers here,so the programmes are repacked to allow this, and channels which dont allow this cannot enter its platform. Astro owns 20% of suntv. To protect suntv and advertising revenue no other channel which wl give suntv a competetion wl be allowed. The same goes with our zeetv and B4U,its all controlled by astro indirectly. This is not allowed in singapore. This is why asto has to make do with limited content. nod.gif More channels may just remain a dream in malaysia as long astro monopolises the market.Channels which can debut in two weeks in other countries takes two years to be on astro, just bcos they hv to agree to deals first! doh.gif Another thing we all can see they are not interested in adding new channels but keen to launch ABO'S,and AF all they want $$$$$$$$ thats all!! Astro wl be astro cos its malaysia Starhub wl be starhub cos its singapore, its compete and win situation there. Here just carry the ruling govt, doh.gif
