hmm air combat collection...

its all die-cast, 1:100 scale.
RM9.90 each, first issue is RM6.90.
some of the models have real good details, some just ok.
on avg at least 80% of the models are real good.

32 issues altogether.
MALAYSIAN SUPPLIER ONLY BRINGS IN UP TO ISSUE 24.
@#@$%@#%!@#%@#!@%!#$^!#$!@$#!@#^!#$%!#%$!@#$@#$.

needless to say, i dont have issues 25-32.

tho i got extras of the issues with the F-16, Mig-29, Apache, Spitfire, BF-109.
*
hey those extra one u wan to sell ah ? biggrin.gif got pic ?

Umm..actually the cockpit is black sweat.gif it's not a masking tape haha. I usually use the tamiya tape and ocassionally normal masking tapes on less important areas. Tamiya tape is still the best so far thumbup.gif

final coating is Future tongue.gif Not sure if could be obtained at ACE hardware these days. I bought it few years back when not many modelers knew about it. Now all kena sapu and the price went up too.

Jackygwh: which plane are u referring to? the Avenger was about RM300 at MH and the F-22... I bought it for RM30 when they had the 50% sales years back. Took me longer to build the F-22 (6 months) compared to the Avenger.
Kit was bad and had to do alot of scratchbuilding, photoetching...puttying..etc etc.

I don't think kitech produces nice kits. If you're going for the F-22 1/72... try MiniHobby (trumpeter)

hmmm... i dunno that the cockpit is black... smile.gif
so.. there are no replacement for Tamiya Masking tape then.. sad.gif hmmm
i used the normal masking tape(white tape)on one of my model before.. but the adhesive was very kuat so ruin my model already... so i'll need to remove the paint and hopefully be able to repaint that model.. smile.gif
when you said normal tape.. you mean normal-everyday-transparent tape?

yup.. FUTURE is the thing... here in northern region.. noplace to find this material... been looking for it for ages.... sad.gif

- Yup.. KITECH/ZHENGDEFU doesnt produce a good model kits... but they would suffice for a beginner like myself.. i have a couple of KITECH/Zhengdefu fully assembled... but havent got a change to paint yet... smile.gif

- thanks

well, speaking of masking tape. In my airchina 747, i used those regular clear selfan tape. My plane's livery suppose to have a gray fuselage belly. i taped it according to the lines and take a few layers of newspaper to cover the uppoer fuselage. Spray painted and it turned out nice.

ooo don't use those tranparent tapes.. try n get those creamed coloured masking tape... it should be low tack enough. Another one could be the 3M blue masking tape.. havent tried it before though. Saw it in Ace hardware.

If you happened to come by KL. Do drop by HobbyHQ, plenty of nice kits & supplies. thumbup.gif

HobbyHq is at the 3rd floor, City Square KL. Just next to YowChuan Plaza. Plenty of gunze paints and other accessories. Kits are not cheap though as they carry exclusive stuff e.g Hasegawas, Academy, Tamiya, Trump etc. But then if you're looking for quality kits... smile.gif

Oh yea.. the avenger is up on display in MidValley smile.gif

paint cost hmm.. IIRC last time i did buy a couple of the basic color from Tamiya hmm it cost around RM14 per color.. i dunno if this is the color they use with airbrush and for the Tamiya aerosol cans around RM27/can.... last week i found this Gunze color cost around RM7/color... when i bought the color i was planning to hand-brush the model... so i dunno if this can be use with airbrush or vice versa....

why they stop importing models? if not maybe we can bulk order from you smile.gif

difference.. hmmm... i for one havent try those high quality model kits... but from what i heard the accuracy is a bit different from each and the price as well... i have Revell-Monogram model kits and the most expensive so far is RM259 (MIG-29 1:32 scale), still havent build becoz i was so afraid i might spoilt the painting job later... so saving for when "if" i can afford an airbrush set...

so anyone planning to do BULK on airbrush.. smile.gif i dont think we can order paint from outside right? because of Kastam thinggy with the content of the paitn.. but i think we can do bulk on airbrush set.. smile.gif
so receommend some mr Kelvw smile.gif

why is it i have the feeling that the HobbyHQ somehow got an affiliation with you Kelvw smile.gif unsure.gif ... which is good thumbup.gif ... maybe all of us here in LYN can go and buy stuff from you at a very special price.. thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

hmm Tamiya kits. i noticed there are still some laying around in ToyCity in Penang area.. maybe not many modelers are from Penang... and maybe the price is just expensive.. smile.gif.
for essential stuff for building.. hmmm i used a common scissors, a normal tweezer, a small cutting plyer, a normal cutting blade and a couple of clips and rubber band.. smile.gif i find that the Tamiya brand is way expensive... but if you go for quality then you cant go wrong with Tamiya stuff.. smile.gif

as for painting essential... maybe Kelvw can have a say on this.... smile.gif for handbrushing.. get a high quality brush... those el-cehapo one the "bulu-bulu" will come off easily and ruin your model....

and get a pair of still hands... you gonna need it.. smile.gif
paint the aricraft from from to back in an orderly fashion.. to make it have a natural feel of air flowoing from the front of the aircraft to the nback.. smile.gif

well.. again my RM0.25 "duit raya" contribution.. smile.gif

BTW: i saw this lil ad in a magazine called PERAJURIT... the ads show that this one company is selling Malaysian Airforce accurate decals... maybe worth a look....

I've gone to checkout diecast aircraft models just yesterday, and I can't help but feel disgusted at the lack of quality of the stuffs I saw (I forgot the brand for it already, but I remember the logo being a gold square, with something like a huge "S" on the middle, and the same company also did other stuffs like 1:18 diecast bikes, cars, tanks and whatnot).

90% of the planes I've saw have like, a ridiculously smooth body. There's no real panel lines (other than flat looking black lines that are directly airbrushed/printed on the planes) on them, and the color on them looked flat. Sure, aircrafts in reality are flat, but meh, they could've at least make use of the airbrush and paint on some makeshift shadow on them to make them feel 'real', if you get what I mean >_>. What's more, I don't really fancy model kits/toys that are HUGE (lol Americans only buy things that are as HUGE as an Xbox).

But still, why die cast? Why not plastic? It's easier to make more detailed moulds easily on the plastic, and it's not as if plastics aren't sturdy (not like you're going to throw the thing across the room anyway, the models just spend the rest of the eternity sitting on your desk/display cabinet to gather dust once you've bought them anyway).

Hell, just look at what the Japanese managed to produce (and they're cheaper too. Either that, or all the stores I've went to overcharged by selling those die cast aircrafts at RM19.90~29.90 a piece, because the Japanese 1/144 miniatures retails at 250~400yen, around RM10~RM16):

easy there... smile.gif

smile.gif well.. i think i saw in the ToyCity here last time they have this airliner model.. 1:144 scale and selling for RM300... and the details are just superb...smile.gif but no parents are willing to buy this plane for their 4-5 years old kid.. smile.gif (i know i wouldn't) this is when the un"real"-die-cast-model come into play.. smile.gif

in comparison.. those die-cast model you refering to is for kids... not for a collectors who were really looking for the "real" factor in our collection.. smile.gif

and if a kid playing with the plastic model.. it would broke of easily (my daughter used to do that with my scale model sweat.gif) so thats why they have this ceapo die-cast model.. for them (kids) to throw it in the air, across the room and hoping for it to "fly" without risking to break it.. smile.gif

but i can understand the frustation trying to find a decent model for our collection... i for one sometimes try to order some stuff from outside just for the details and superb looks at a cheaper price too smile.gif

anyway... nice looking Hind copter there.. (is it?) your personal collection? smile.gif
