Yeah I usually coat the final layer to seal the paint & decals. Took me about 4 months to complete it day & night haha. As for the airbrush, I swapped between the Iwata & tamiya double action. Sorri leh.. I'm not ah how. wink.gif

ok here are a few more... sorry for the big pics.

Umm..actually the cockpit is black sweat.gif it's not a masking tape haha. I usually use the tamiya tape and ocassionally normal masking tapes on less important areas. Tamiya tape is still the best so far thumbup.gif

final coating is Future tongue.gif Not sure if could be obtained at ACE hardware these days. I bought it few years back when not many modelers knew about it. Now all kena sapu and the price went up too.

Jackygwh: which plane are u referring to? the Avenger was about RM300 at MH and the F-22... I bought it for RM30 when they had the 50% sales years back. Took me longer to build the F-22 (6 months) compared to the Avenger.
Kit was bad and had to do alot of scratchbuilding, photoetching...puttying..etc etc.

I don't think kitech produces nice kits. If you're going for the F-22 1/72... try MiniHobby (trumpeter)

ooo don't use those tranparent tapes.. try n get those creamed coloured masking tape... it should be low tack enough. Another one could be the 3M blue masking tape.. havent tried it before though. Saw it in Ace hardware.

If you happened to come by KL. Do drop by HobbyHQ, plenty of nice kits & supplies. thumbup.gif

HobbyHq is at the 3rd floor, City Square KL. Just next to YowChuan Plaza. Plenty of gunze paints and other accessories. Kits are not cheap though as they carry exclusive stuff e.g Hasegawas, Academy, Tamiya, Trump etc. But then if you're looking for quality kits... smile.gif

Oh yea.. the avenger is up on display in MidValley smile.gif

Haha I'm not affiliated with HobbyHq la but I do visit them quite often. Usually they'll have modellers meetup on Saturdays. Quite interesting to see what others are building and technique sharing. Anyways...HobbyHQ is just opposite AmpangPark.

I have yet to see the new 1/32 SU-27 built by a fellow modeller in MiniatureHobby. It's gonna be huge!!

As for airbrushes... I bought mine from HLJ.com for a pretty good price. Trips to HK will be a good idea too as it's cheap there. Bought some handpiece there as well.
Oh yea.. those el-cheapo brushes will be more frustrating to paint. Better to get some good brushes/airbrushes to save headaches later on. So far I've been happy with brushes from Tamiya HG series. Abit expensive but worth it. Art brushes are good too but you'll need to be selective of it as some won't hold much paint.

I started off with ArmourCollection series of diecast planes too wink.gif that's when I moved on to scale models. I think it's quite worth it if you're a serious collector as it really heavy and the scale is pretty good. Only downside is it's too darn expensive to collect. Wish I could show u guys the collection but it's all boxed up at the moment... no place to display it. Wife will kill me too... haha

I think it's better defined as a replica whistling.gif Most modelers i know get offended when their masterpieces are referred to as toys blink.gif unless if one builds it as a toy 'quality' lol... sweat.gif

GAMECON is on this Saturday 3rd-4th Dec at the Midvalley MIVEC. Wilayah & Selangor Modeling club will be having modelbuilding sessions for beginners and airbrushing armour workshops. More details here ... (not sure if the forum is working or not as it's been having some probs lately)

Seemed quite difficult to find Future Floor wax already at ACE Hardware since most modellers already gasak a few bottles at one go hence the price increased and it's availability. I've not seen Johnson FloorWax here locally but only Future. You could still achieve the same tasks with Tamiya/Gunze's clear but of course much cheaper with future. But if u're dipping canopies it's better with Future.

It's actually floor wax. haha.. meant to coat the floor with a thin layer of arcylic to protect it's finishing. However modelers are using it as a final coat to protect the paint job.

Pics taken smile.gif But have yet to sort it out... hopefully later tonight or tomorrow. Kinda bz with work and some beta testing. Anyway Gamecon is pretty happening! The hall is full of gamers playing Warhammer40k and others. I think the grand prize is about USD 10k. smile.gif thumbup.gif

Lol...welcome to the club kuman. It's a modelers syndrome... buying more than we could build haha. I think I have about 200 unbuilt kits in store now. Have to slow down on buying and get down to building. It's gonna last me till my next generation hehe.

Anyway as promised here's the link to the pics taken at GAMECON.
Sorry I wouldn't want to upload twice ... so here they are.

GAMECON PICS FR

and more here as well...

GAMECON PICS II

Just browse around as there're more pics.
