ooo.. i thought its from some hobby shop...

Hooby shop can get those really susah to build models. I got one F-14A Tomcat from a Hobby Shop at 1 Utama. It's a 1/60 scale and the pieces are like 10,000 parts blink.gif. But the thing is .... it's VERY detail. Even the cockpit controls you have to build. The engine is the worse part shakehead.gif, it's like building a real engine for the plane.

The brand is called Academy

It's a gift from my GrandPa. My last year Christmas gift. Actually he wanted to give me money coz I'm a "big" boy already biggrin.gif (no more small boy play with toys) but he knew I'm into modelling, so he bought me one of the hardest model from the brand Academy. Academy has the modelling rating from 1 to 5. Level 1 is the most kacang putih le laugh.gif .... but my GrandPa bought me the level 4 skill .... shocking.gif

Until now, I manage to finish CockPit of the F-14 Tomcat. I have to built the radar which is at the nose of the plane. The front nose can opened to see the radar of the plane. Then I have to built the gatling cannon which attched to the right size bottom of the cockpit.

Sigh, now so lazy to carry on builting sweat.gif

for beginner.. i think you can get those cheap model from Kitech or Zhengdefu... that can get you going in the right direction until you're comfortable with the modelling stuff then invest on a more detail model such as the one from Academy... smile.gif

The Kitech brand can get from RM19.99 to RM21 for a 1:72 scale model.... still need to paint and assemble the thing.smile.gif

for easiest one get the snap-on model... smile.gif

i've yet e=venture to the difficult modelling.. so far ok la... but as i mentioned i do have those Revell-Monogram model.. dunno about the detail level.. but i'll soon find out... when i finish all of my cheap model first.. smile.gif

i bought my Kitech & Zhengdefu model kit from THE STORE and Parkson although some time Parkson do carry those expensive stuff as well.. smile.gif

my 2 rupiah..

hmm air combat collection...

its all die-cast, 1:100 scale.
RM9.90 each, first issue is RM6.90.
some of the models have real good details, some just ok.
on avg at least 80% of the models are real good.

32 issues altogether.
MALAYSIAN SUPPLIER ONLY BRINGS IN UP TO ISSUE 24.
@#@$%@#%!@#%@#!@%!#$^!#$!@$#!@#^!#$%!#%$!@#$@#$.

needless to say, i dont have issues 25-32.

tho i got extras of the issues with the F-16, Mig-29, Apache, Spitfire, BF-109.

i think another good publication would be World Air Power Journal

they features a very good details on aircraft including some cutaways, walkaround etc but sadly to say the magazine already being discontinue from publishing thus rendering it unavaiable to the user here.. smile.gif

The last issue is Winter 2000.

One fellow modeller from UK have his own collection of this publication, he willing to sell it but it would cost thousand of ringgit in shipping and handling charges alone for it to be send here to Malaysia... so i just scrap the idea and settle to the normal Aircraft Encyclopedia i can find in bookstore nationwide.

An Illustrated Anatomy of the World's Fighters: The Inside Story of over 100 Classics in the Evolution of Fighter Aircraft (Hardcover) - By William Green = a good reference for the Cutaway of Aircraft although its only in black and white.
Aircraft Cutaway book Reference

hmm what to do.. we're always left out here in Malaysia when it comes to a good aircraft publications..

smile.gif

again my 2 rupiah contributions.. smile.gif

look tedious but the end result is very satisfactory....

Yeah I usually coat the final layer to seal the paint & decals. Took me about 4 months to complete it day & night haha. As for the airbrush, I swapped between the Iwata & tamiya double action. Sorri leh.. I'm not ah how. wink.gif

now this is interesting.... smile.gif

i noticed that you use a black masking tape over the cockpit area.. what tape is that??
i've been using a lil bit of Tamiya tape.. but i find that the Tamiya Masking tape is VERY expensive.. so now i'm looking for a replacement tape that can be obtained locally...

coincidently.. I'm building my F-22 as well but at a smaller scale 1:72 from KiTech.. not very accurate, but will do smile.gif

what kind of coating u use? i heard so much about FUTURE.. ever come across those thing in Malaysia?

you did a fine job here.. did you submit your creation to Aircraft resource Center Modelling
it would be a fine addition to the Malaysian submission to the site.. smile.gif

i really wish i got an airbrush set... now stuck with spray aerosol cans (Anchor, Bosny & Tamiya) only sad.gif
