Hi all, I'm having an issue with my iptv for more than 2 months. Already open at least 4 trouble ticket for the same issue. And every time before solving the issue they close my ticket.... I even went to Tm point to complaint and they promised me that they will solve the issue before closing my ticket... And guess what. Looks like those incompetent fools hired by Tm close the ticket again before solving the issue and not even informing me. This is really absurd. I really can't believe the level of service they provide. Have asked the issue to be escalated and the moron people working there could only open another new ticket... Repetitively.... Really frustrating. Looks like they only want the sla to look good on paper. Anyone can advise me how do I get the issue escalated?

Btw I've got more than rm 200 rebate back so far due to the issue. I advise any one of you having any issues to report to unifi and get the rebate back so at least they take responsibility For the downtime we face.... Sorry about that but I'm really pissed!

hi guys... need some information..

my new home which is a double storey house is doing renovation. so im thinking to apply for UNIFI and my dad wants those cable being concealed.

so my plan is:

1) have those CAT5e cable concealed from 3 bedrooms at 1st floor to the living room at Grd floor.

2) since the telephone pole is at the back of the house. ask the UNIFI contractor to install fiber to 1 of the bedroom which also at the back of the house.

then from that bedroom connect the FWS - BTU - RG - STB (at the living room via the concealed CAT5e)

is that okay ?

First, you must confirm where's your fibre distribution point. If you've confirmed than it should be fine.
Have you forgotten your phone line? Connected to the BTU. If you wanted to place it in the living room, you might need to conceal cable for it too. Other than that, I don't see serious problem but you must plan how your wall socket(RJ45 port) will be installed. Since from the first room, you wanted to connect to 2 more rooms and to living room. That means you'll need 3 ports + 1 for telephone at the first room and 1 port each at remaining rooms and living room. I have no idea how are you going to lay the cable. The most hassle free solution I would say is to use wireless. Concealing 4 cables ain't so easy IMO. Anyway, just my 2 cents. With current wireless technology, everything is quite stable. I'm 99.99% on wifi. Nearly never use LAN cable to connect my PC and router.

Whats your plan Whats your objective? Do you plan to set up a NAS? Where do you want to put your equipment at (FWS,BTU,RG,STB)? Phone? Based on what i undersand, you want your IPTV to be in your living room right? Are you planning to use a repeater/AP? U want to put it upstairs/downstairs? or just run cable?

It is not advisable to place your network stuff in living room due to aesthetic reason unless you can conceal it in a cabinet. You can place it in a study if you have one or in the bedroom that house the BTU. I gather you plan to place BTU at the fiber incoming location. You can place both BTU & RG there and run 2x Cat5e to living room and 1 ea to 2 other bedrooms. You need 2 for living in case you also need networkfor appliances other than STB. You can't share them with STB unless using VLAN trunking and that would cost more. You can run more Cat5e to other rooms such as downstair backroom and kitchen for future smart kitchen appliance. You can add switch to the whole setup when you need it in future. Myself have network points in 9 different locations with network centre located in family room. In case the RG location is not suitable due to inadequate wifi coverage, you can always move it to living room and place a switch at its original location to link it to rest of the room. Better still, buy a better RG than those supplied by TM.

yup. confirm the fiber distribution point is at the alley back of the house.

hmm.. forgotten about the phone line.. tongue.gif

based on kimyee73 suggestion, i think should rearrange the plan.
concealed CAT5e from Bedroom1 to BR2, BR3 and also living room (with phone line).
the new home i mention is doing renovation.. so not a problem to concealing those cables.

FWS, BTU and RG will be installed in one of the bedroom upstairs

while the STB is at the living room downstairs.

now i realise the phone must be connected to the BTU. so need to concealed a phone line from the bedroom to the living room downstairs.

Which phone are you referring to? The VoIP through UniFi or your Old Phone? You need to tell this in order for us to help.

Why don't you just do the installation at your living room and conceal just cat5e from living room? Btw, cable must confirm working and better get some higher quality ones. Else if the cable is broken after being concealed... Your heart sure pain like hell tongue.gif

u mean direct from living room and branch out to those bedrooms?

cos the FDS is at the back of the house. so the shortest way to enter the house is through my bedroom upstairs and branch out from there.

yup will get the better cat5e cable.. and im the one who will do the crimping and testing of the cable before finalize the conceal.

Get BIZ5 then. No worries forever but you lose IPTV. The choice is yours biggrin.gif

If just barely referring to download speed, not really but upload speed is a massive difference due to symmetrical bandwidth on UniFi. Besides that, if you're BT user, the upload speed do benefit you if you're using private tracker or something that depends on your seed ratio. Local sharing is also awesome. Uploading pictures etc etc also... A hell lot faster. Compare to 4M streamyx, it's 10times upload speed difference. The ping on FTTH should be lower compared to copper. Anyway, it depends on what you normally use. DL Cap is still not implemented for now. TM will announce it earlier before they implement it.

Hey guys, got a question on my Unifi problems. Ever since I installed Unifi last Friday, it seems like every day there seems to be a new issue. Firstly on Saturday morning, I discovered that I couldn't connect to the Internet and my VOIP was down. Called the Unifi SC and they told me that if I off my modem at night, it may miss some config changes that are "pushed" out during maintenance. After a short troubleshoot, OK redi. Then on Sunday morning, I saw the WAN status light on my router was blinking rapidly in orange, couldn't connect to the Net and HyppTV was down (VOIP OK tho). Called up the SC again, and they said that my connection needed to be "refreshed". After some more troubleshooting, OK again. Or so I thought... Barely a few minutes later, same problem and total loss of Net & HyppTV. Now SC says they'll send over a techie to have a look. I'm still waiting for that to happen.

Does this sound symptomatic of a router problem (stoopid DR-615) or some more fundamental line connection issues. I'm staying at a townhouse which has VDSL2 to our fibre. I've been reading on LYN how ppl hv successfully switched over to TP routers and enjoyed problem-free Unifi. Looking to go down that path too. Any comments?

Significant noise?? Hmm... No idea then. Since UniFi is on VoIP, there shouldn't be any noise or interference with your old copper line. No idea what's happening there. You connected splitter to which phone? If connect to the old phone, you should be able to use the phone. No idea why it won't work.
