is there no way to call up TM to make installation appointment? have to just wait for them to call, and wait forever?

if have to miss the ONE call anyway due to very important interview & meeting? then, i called 1300 number, they just say they cant make an appointment like that, or atleast transfer me to anyone that able to, just tell me to wait for another phone call

doh.gif so i guess i go toilet #2 also i have to bring my phone & monitor it!

I should be getting my Unifi installed today... Hopefully.

I applied online 26 Nov and was given install date of 12 Dec (today) @ 2:30pm. Last Friday someone called to confirm date.

Now at home waiting for the contractor to come.

Problem is today is Selangor holiday. Oh oh. I'm in Sungai Long which is well inside the holiday zone.

Now 12pm, I guess they won't be coming early. Of course not, didn't expect them to.

I always have bad luck with TM installations from telephone installation and ISDN (many years ago) at my other house. Last experience was the transfer of phone line to my new house which took 5 weeks to complete. Something which should have been done in a few days.

Wish me luck, please. With TM and its contractors, luck is all I have.

Update:
12:30pm: Contractor called to see if they can come now.
1pm: Arrived and installation in progress. Just 2 of them, 1 doing the external and the other the inside.
Contractor wants RM60 for non-standard installation because I want them to install at the upstairs back room which I thought is easier for them since it is closest to the Telekom tiang in the back lane. (Will see if I can a receipt for this)
2:15pm: All done and tested. Would have completed earlier if I didn't have to spend 30mins looking for the key to the back lane gate.
As I suspected, the RM60 is for their pockets. There is actually a form which I signed which said no extra installation charges paid to contractor or to be billed by TM. In the end, I gave them RM100 for a job well done.

All in all, quite a pleasant experience.
*
if Rm100 enough to settle for them to put my IPTV point & deck phone on ground floor, and internet modem/router at 1st floor then i'll be very glad...

QUOTE(rattan @ Dec 14 2011, 09:14 PM)
If you applied with an authorized TM re-seller, inform your re-seller. He can help you to get things sorted with TM. If he is not then you have to play the waiting game.
*
i found my way... bug the 1300 as much as possible and have them send the Siebel thing to my email after everytime i make 1 call

3rd, THIRD!!!! installation appoinment made this saturday... if tak jadi i really have to give up...

Impossible. The require laying two cables, the CAT5E and telephone cable all the way from upstair to downstair. The other way round, CAT5E up to router then router back down for IPTV. Both way isn't that easy to settle I think. When you request more, be ready to pay more.
*
I just want longer cables, they can place the equipment anywhere they want, if i have the cable length i can move it further if i want to init?

and as per i quoted soonwai is bcos if they charge me "officially according to the table below for cables. it will be billed to me via tm. they get nothing, thou i dun mind the charges seem ok for every extra cables usage.

but if they want UNOFFICIAL of payment, i dun mind... wink.gif

Yeah, please brief us on their installation and which ONU and equipment they provided.

What browser you're using? If it's chrome, try switch to IE or firefox and retest. In my case, a lot difference. Googled this matter and many others said Chrome do reroute the data, causing high pings.
*
u're rite i using chrome, bcos its the best so far as it doesnt have "error" loading on any site so far, where firefox & IE will always have (the small "!" mark on the status bar)

One question...

when not watching tv/online, do i switch those devices off, and off power switches?

modem, router, iptv thing etc

will these thing sort of like "too hot" if on 24-7

also, the tiny white fibre optic cable from the box to my house .... looks scarily fragile.... sweat.gif

especially the contractor did not use a conduit (atleast in between cable thru wall surface) hopefuly long term no prob... when more familiar with this thing aredy, i see if i can give some protection to this cable or not

I have personally added conduit/flexible hoses to the fiber optic cable for extra protection.

I have added installed a stand fan blowing straight onto my routers and BTU for cooling. Worried they give way so the extra stand fan really helps cooling them down + my notebook.

I strongly believe an additional fan is necessary if you want to extend the BTU and wireless router life span. Once the warranty is over the BTU replacement is going to cost an arm and leg.
*
yea... today i notice the contractors team is not very well equip, ladder also dun have... have to borrow my other contractor's one (i am renovating house) so i just let them do wat they able to do

so u install those conduit urself? i may assign other contractor to come and run some.

the whole thing look sensitive & fragile, dun dare to touch it....

May you try do speedtest on IE and firefox then post here? I don't know why macam I'm the only one in malaysia having this problem. Same server, chrome 500ms, IE <20ms.

Basically, secure the power supply(surge protection) then you're nice to go. No worry of lightning strike through fibre. My modem and router are naturally cooled with the aid of tiled floor, never overheat. Just very very mere heat, like a few degrees higher than body temperature only. But i'm staying in 13rd floor, maybe that matters =)
Don't overbent the fibre optic. You might kill it. Up to certain level internal refraction won't carry on, data won't pass through.

using IE

here at 2nd floor, connection status: Very Good

i guess i'll get better when am closer to the router? biggrin.gif

yea am so bothered by the thin white fibre now piercing thru the wall, dangling...

How can they leave the thing drop cable exposed like that?

Better pray there's no thunder storm like what like in SJ recently. It's susceptible to strong wind and might get fractured if not careful.

Did they charge you any extra?
*
nope did not charge extra

i was hoping they have better suggestion & charge me.. but they seem so rush... lol, and they got no basic tools like cable ties, conduit, flex conduit, ladder... hm...

anyway just now i couldnt connect

i check on LAN Setting, the IP is set 127.0.0.1 , port 9666
i unchecked, and put auto detect mode, then only can connect
why is it, and is my "configuration" alright?

How can that entry suddenly change?

You got disable remote management earlier a not? Better do it if not you're opening a serious backdoor for hackers to remote control your home gateway router(DLink unit).

I'm not sure what you're referring to LAN IP ranges, your router's LAN address or port forwarding. Better ask the Unifi sifus here with hardware expertise.

A screenshot with your IPs erased(white out) with paint can help a lot.
*
i just checked, my remote management is disabled

i did not change anything since installation yesterday, but just now i cannot connect to the internet

so i check on browser

here is the setting of Option>Change Proxy Setting> LAN Setting

I changed it to:-

then ok, can connect, site loaded out.. speed test, fine.

wonder why is it like that... rclxub.gif

You got install any VPN before this such as your company's VPN?

That one is not your web configuration but your browser's configuration.
*
