There are only 2 things I wanted from Nokia and that is, Nokia Maps and camera. But I read Lumia has lousy Nokia Maps compared to Symbian/Nokia Maps. True?

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Feb 19 2012, 06:14 PM) First I personally tested the Nokia lumia 800 and u seen the sample it's better than any android phone well looks like a cool phone..let me go check out in nokia store....2nd I love the ui metro 3rd its the social integration found in the phone. I can chat with msn/ facebook or SMS just by going messaging 4th I can pull all feeds from all my friends with a click. It feeds everything about them regardless email, facebook, twitter, contacts into individual. The power of people hub. 5th u can link emails multiple email if you want. 6th the voice recognition is pretty accurate but still need a lot improvement. |

QUOTE(edwinlcw @ Feb 19 2012, 06:10 PM) To be fair... I never face such issue you mentioned on my previous 3 android devices... and now my nexus... maybe that's because those who face that issue have mod their phone firmware or installed some custom firmware.... if you just use it as it is.. everything will be working fine... It's well known, just do a googling, there's many complaints anyway, not necessarily need to mod; And why people use custom firmware sometimes it's because the custom firmware is better.Between Android, Windows Phone and iOS, there's no doubt and no question, Android is the most unstable, consume lots of memory and the user need to know more things. On Android device with more RAM, there's less issue, but doesn't mean there is no issue. To be fair, surely there will be people who have different experience; There're people who face problems with their iOS, when others never face any problems before. As GENERAL, for a normal/beginner user, I believe they will face more issues if they're not familiar and use an Android; For those who choose Android and able to live with it, usually its because they know what they wanted and how to use it. It's like owning a sports/turbo car, if you want to speed, you should know it will consume more fuel and you may need more/higher maintenance; For those a general/beginner driver who doesn't know, will complain this and that or face problem. |

QUOTE(christina1 @ Feb 19 2012, 05:15 PM) I've been an android user for YEARS and had to tell you, even my Galaxy Note, my Samsung Galaxy S2 packed with dual core processor, higher RAM, flash with custom ROM, it really cant beat the smoothness of the Nokia Lumia 800. Man....its amazing. BUT I still prefer my Galaxy Note due to larger screens, higher resolutions. BUT (again) if Nokia Lumia 900 is out in a couple months later, I might buy it replacing my Samsung Galaxy S2.Battery WISE, Nokia Lumia 800 is way better. And I'm very surprise, my first time using WP7.5 was soo easy than my first time of using an android phone. But the downside of it is the lack of applications which is why another reasons I'm still holding my android phones. This post has been edited by Leo the Lion: Feb 19 2012, 07:30 PM |

The map data is the same. Not too sure on the difference between the 2 versions, but Nokia has said that they will continue to improve their apps and all major innovation from them will focus on WP |

The map is the same and the only thing I found a cons in Nokia maps in lumia is you need to connect to the Internet to search for places can't work offline,

Android definitely has force close issue, although I've never seen it happening for call function (unless you use custom rom, a half baked one).
I have used many Android devices (6-7) and I can see force close error within 24 hours after using the phones. |

TBH, I've been using the original Galaxy Tab since its launch, and trust me, in its stock form, its quite unbearable Don't get me wrong, I perfectly understand its limitation and capabilities, which at least for me, its nothing to fuss at. Just a little bit of TLC, compromise and it shall handle all your needs admirably. And for me, a mantra I always used if ppl ask me what Android phone should I recommend to them rings true all the time- Don't be a cheapskate. Go for the latest and greatest (Spec wise), and you will be fine. Well for most of the time. With ICS, I really felt that Galaxy S shall be the baseline spec that anyone should go for. Lesser than that, and you will be pulling your hair soon enuff. *Still remember my experience with HTC Wildfire. Brr, I almost throw the phone outta the window, something I never done to my gadgets before, even the uber craptastic N97 |

QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Feb 19 2012, 08:15 PM) It only needs to go online to get the route data. For the maps itself, its downloadable. Once the route being established, no need for internet anymore. yea just the hassle for those dont have extra data plan. Even you have history you close it and you open back it needs data again |

But I think the data downloaded is minimal, kinda like the data downloading needed for AGPS lock.i haven't test my lumia in data offline mode yet. And once the route being established, you can go offline without any problem AFAIK. Note that this only for Nokia Drive. Havent get enough quality time with Nokia Maps yet. |
