You know... when i venture out into the general H & F category, there are still a lot of ignorance. Things I've encountered repeatedly are:-

1. Fat turning into muscles if you exercise.
2. You can eat anything you want as long as you train hard you still can lose weight.
3. Cardio is a MUST if you want to lose weight.
4. Should not diet, diet is also known as life loss. Cardio only better.

Wtf man. Who propagated all this crap.

Oh no. There's nothing that gives me the shudders like going into the general G&F section.
My favorite of the lot is the advice for :

1) Hey, I wanna lose weight. What do I do?
2) Hey, I wanna gain weight. What do I do?
3) Hey, I sometimes can't sleep at night. What do I do?
4) Hey, I seem to fall sick easily. What do I do?
5) I'm training for a marathon, what do I do?
6) My shoulder hurts from benching, what do I do?
7) I broke my leg yesterday, what do I do?
<Add more questions>

Answer for all of the above :

Eat more fruits and vegetables. More healthy.

Look at this. One guy said no need to take multivites and fish oil anymore cos he's eating enough veggies and fruits.

The section outside drives me nuts!

This, I've heard a lot. Especially when I started doing weights, friends around have been telling me 'Oh no! don't do weights until you lose all your fats' kinda crap. AND THEN, when I tell them I'm taking protein shakes, they will go 'Oh no! You wanna look like those super muscular woman?' with their horror face. To date, 10 out of 10 will give the same respond. I think most are not aware what protein actually does to the body.

ah, an enlightened one! ive pretty much stopped telling people how often i workout. usually some vague "oh every once a while". stops them from asking anything further. apparently 4 times a week is overkill...

No la, I'm just surprised that he can actually not be aware of the importance of multivites. They help a LOT in training. If you think about it, I never trained specifically for bodyweight pull up strength but I'm now pulling my bodyweight. Heck, even the one arm chin is going well on it's staging. But i don't actively train for that particular lift.

Lol.. I used to be like him. No multivites, waste money etc... but then one day I feel that I don't do justice by not trying. So I just try it, started with ON Optimen. I can never believe the additional energy I get from multivites alone. But its really obvious and it has now become my staple. But then when optimen was out, I started looking something else, just for the sake of trying diff brands and feel the difference. Currently anavite is my fav, got even more clean sustained energy that could support my work the day after workout (usually feels like a dead fish)... gonna try OT soon. My joints start to yell at me lately or perhaps I shall get exposed to more morning sunlight, felt that I'm being D3-deficient being cooped in office =/

Lol, remember when i was benching 225 on the Smith and chatting with you at the same time? That's cos it was easy as pie. Nah, my pulling power needs to catch up with pulling. I'm dropping close grip chin ups for a while and substituting with hammer grip. My old wrist fractures and causing pain.

Actually if u asked them to define "Diet", they will tell u "Stop eating meat and rice (more likely everything), take more fruits and water. Worse... they are teaching others with this methodology. Man.....

Oh yes they love cardio.

Cardio is overrated. It's a supplementary tool for weight loss, not the end all means all. I hate it when people say you can eat whatever you want just exercise. Looking at my food pics, people assume i eat like that all the time but i never post pics of my healthy meals. Who wants to see chicken breasts and brown rice right?

Lol.

I seriously don't know what the f*ck is wrong with my body, been hammering the shit out of myself, upped it to 40 minutes of cardio, a cup of carbs each meal on training days and only half a cup of carbs on non training day. And after a full month I dropped from 113.6 to 106. Pathetic 7 kg in 4 weeks. I keep wondering if my maintenance calorie is like 1.5k because I keep dropping my calorie intake but I am not losing fast enough. I even dropped my post w/o shakes to just having solid meals. I seriously don't want drop any more carbs , i'm already hungry all the freaking time. And I eat every 2 - 3 hours.

Lol. You do realize that when you BW goes lower, you need to adjust carbs accordingly. Protein is still calories. And excess cardio can blunt insulin sensitivity and be counter productive. I know how you feel. I'm still trying to cut some more. I'm still kinda fat.

The worst thing is, I look like I'm getting even bigger rather than getting smaller on a weekly basis

Lol, that means whatever you're doing is not working if you are getting fatter. You might be recomping the wrong way. =P Gaining fat and losing muscle? Too much cardio is detrimental.

If you lose too much lean mass = BMR goes down = BMR goes down = hello fatty.

I mean... dieting is a 2 edged sword. Aim for 1 pound per week. Lose too fast and it screws you up.

1 lb a week. That's not even half a kilo a week . When I meant getting bigger , I meant my frame gets bigger, but with so much fat, I look more like a fat kid more than anything.
