ninpo kernel is pretty good too. i still like VR even after i flashed Batista70

wow..you're gonna need a program like CCleaner or Perfect Uninstaller to uninstall the driver and ensure that it was correctly uninstalled and then reboot and try again. at least from my experience, unless someone else here knows a better solution.

wanna know if those speedmod kernel, can it be used on white ver? i believe that's the i9100G version.

No. None of the normal i9100 kernel will work on G version.

Added on October 26, 2011, 11:15 pmHmm. It seems those kernels got no CWM. Hint, PM chainfire with a link to your original kernel to see if he can cook up a CF kernel for your G version.

is there a way to backup the homescreen?

I mean how can i make the phone rearrange the homescreen by itself when i change it to other rom? so sick of rearranging the homescreen each time i flash

Done with CCleaner and problem still occur .. Is there any other possible way ? Or Im left with upgrading Android 2.3.5 using Odin ?? Didnt wanna root it so fast yet .. LOL .. Still running Stock ROM and original kernel .. xD


Apart from that .. I got a question regarding rooting and changing ROM ..

This is the steps i currently understand ..
1) Backup IMEI with the link posted on Page 1
2) Download Odin , cf-root , 'desire' kernel and 'desire' ROM , Stock kernel and Stock ROM
3) Backup my Apps with Titanium Backup and Nandroid
4) Root kernel using the way from this link - http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2068824
5) Installing Lite'ning Rom v6.1 with Odin - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274


Some question im not clear ..
a) Is the steps correct ??
b)What is the difference between the Official i9100 Firmware i saw here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 , and SiyahKernel v2.0 ??
c) am i able to backup my stock kernel and stock ROM , or i have to find and download it manually ??

P/S : It is my first smartphone ..

It's because some people like deodexed (moddable) stock. YOU decide what to toss out and what to retain on device (through TiBu), and what themes to apply (through VillainThemes/Ninjamorph/Metamorph/Self modding).

Other roms do this for you. Or add (sometimes unneasecary) stuff (like themes or whatnot) that may be good or may cause issues. Some force modems/kernels down your throat as well - something you might or might not appreciate (VR - since 2.4 - autoinstalls Ninpo's 2.0.5 kernel. But considering it's rock solid, it's an acceptable compromise).

Thus in the past months, the only strange behaviour/FCs I've got while using VR was the result of my own modding or kernel conflicts (while testing Siyah).

Otherwise, VR for me has been rock solid stable. That's the main draw of VillainRom. A solid, moddable base to start from.

Or you can go kitchen and customise your own. Otherwise for me Touchwiz ROMs are generally the same thing, plus minus whatever that suits your (or the ROM chef's) needs.

But remember, what's thrown away might not be as easily restored, unless you're the one doing the throwing away (TiBu can keep backups of whatever you remove).

AOSP ROMs (CM7, Insanity, Oxygen/DevNull) and MIUI however, are totally different though and are not subject to this discussion.

Your call. It obviously needs to be fully charged, but however long you wanna leave it after that is inconsequential - overcharging never happens nowadays.

Guys,if really wan buy new s2.Any advice / suggestion to buy G version or non-g version? Just wan a stable phone only with camera,gaming with good condition.

9100G will do if you don't flash custom roms. It might be even better because some user say have better battery life...

very useful summary there.

Gaming is almost non issue here as both version can play games without problem. The main choice will fall under roms category. Do you like flashing custom roms or you can live happily with stock roms.?
If you're kaki flashing type then the most logical choice is go for a non-G version.
If you dont mind stuck with stock roms then get a G version as the price is cheaper.

Now market still gt non-g version s2?I think hard to buy non-g version s2 already. I feel that G version s2 cannot play HD game and will lagging.Besides,i realise that nowadays G version s2 the camera will appear "camera failed" when i click at some shop for testing purpose.
