I believe Samsung will only release firmware update that can optimized Mali 400MP in January not the actual full fledge ICS upgrade :-)
Otherwise Samsung cannot launch SGS3 lor as everybody got ICS on their SGSII..:-P
*
you forgot one thing, SGS2 is a revolutionary phone. People use it everywhere. Samsung would be very stupid not to update it, cuz people would skip SGS3 if seeing how their flagship phone not updated.

I used to use Desire(a revolutionary single core phone), and HTC said no GB for them cuz sense 3.0 is too big. but in the end, its GB with a compressed sense baked into them. you know, many people are behind it, protesting, complaining.

Well we really woul not know. Maybe we will have Android 4.0 in January and SGS 3 will have something like 4.1 or 4.2 or however they want to number it.
*
Nahh., Samsung always release new firmware version on a new product first. After that only they release the upgrade to their older phones. I remember waiting like hell to get Froyo on SGS (that time still on Eclair). All the sudden Tab 7 release with the new shinning Froyo on it. Months later then SGS get Froyo upgrade :-(
Same cycle happen. All Samsung product sitting on Froyo (except Tab 10.1 on Honeycomb) then Samsung release new product SGSII with Gingerbread. Months later then other phones receive Gingerbread upgrade.
Gonna be the same shit again. SGS3 release with ICS on it then only other phones such as SGSII and Note etc will receive ICS.
~~just my two cents of course~~

Dear Sifus,
Here's my screen shot of my battery life.
Left it idle whole night but still consumed 30% of my battery.
Any advice on what i did wrong? Or forgot to do?
Thanks in advance!

Happened to me once too. Get the betterbatterystats app, get it free from the xda forum, then we can find out which app is making your phone awake all time. Then we only know what to do.

Haha. I also scare before I flash my custom ROM because I don't have spare phone to use.
What I did was reading a lot of info in xda forum till I confidence enough to flash it. Also thanks to antt00 who guided me to do it.

One thing i like about HTC is that it actually listens to the community, like when they lock the bootloader, everyone protest, then HTC decide to unlock it. wish more companies could be like htc *ahem ahem* epal *ahem ahem*

anyways, i dont think need to worry abt ics, as im sure the folks at xda are working to make custom roms for sgs2 with ICS biggrin.gif

Seriously have you installed betterbatterystats. These high drains can be solved once we pinpoint the source (which i guess is the facebook app).

I'm not saying Samsung not going to update ICS for SGSII. What i'm saying is Samsung gonna release new product with ICS on it first. Only then other Samsung phones will receive ICS updates. Samsung is not like Google where it can upgrade its firmware continuously. Samsung is a phones manufacture where its profit come from selling phones and not selling firmwares. If SGSII receive it ICS promptly, there's no need for Samsung to build the new SGS3 then.
~~just saying~~

Yeah, agree with you that flashing custom rom is not that scary. It is actually just unzip and copy all files into system only.
