QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 26 2012, 11:27 PM) 3 mths 4% better or 6 mths 4%? If in 1 Aug there are other banks offer 4% or more then 3mths 4% is better. Am I right? i would say 3 mths 4% is better, as progression tables on fd shown shorter terms lower % Added on April 27, 2012, 8:04 amQUOTE(MGM @ Apr 26 2012, 11:45 PM) I think he is getting his cash back in the FD cert. QUOTE(Lakk55 @ Apr 27 2012, 11:43 AM) currently saving with hsbc at 2.75% per month FD @ 50K should I jump to others.. depends lah, if you need the funds next week why waste time, but if you not going to use the funds for the next 6 months, you'll losing out 1.25% with HSBC instead of going for SCB current promo. Anyway, you better go read the terms and conditions and check if you need to spend X amount within certain time frame. For those of you don't want the hassle to go open new account at OCBC our UOB, here is Maybank Fixed Deposit Promo until 16 May 2012. Minimum Fresh fund RM20K for individual. Promo also good if one is not sure if they can tie down their fund for 6 months. For more FD promotions April to May, please visit my Fixed Deposit Page at my blog.

QUOTE(lkso20 @ Apr 27 2012, 02:55 PM) Guys, you are leaving out the BEST FD rate one lah, its Bank Rakyat. Ok, the service might not be as good but the rate is the best. I was reading this site and claims BR is the best for FD. 4.01% !!!!!!!!!!!!! http://savemoney.my/best-fd-rates-in-malay...1-for-one-year/I'm considering this .. any comments guys? I also received sms on the cash back promotion. I checked their terms/application form. The annual fees is RM250 for platinum card + RM50 govt tax unless we can terminate the card before they charge the annual fees else really no point since most cards nowadays are free for life. The annual fees is RM250 for platinum card + RM50 govt tax unless we can terminate the card before they charge the annual fees else really no point since most cards nowadays are free for life. Bank Rakyat has been constantly offering high FD rate. Only one thing is that deposit in Bank Rakyat isn't PIDM protected while deposit in other commercial banks entitle PIDM protection. If you are very confident with Bank Rakyat, then you may place an fd with them. But if you like to have your deposit to be protected by PIDM then you could try OCBC FD promo, the rate is high as well: http://www.ocbc.com.my/personal-banking/Pr...eals/index.shtmAnyway are you talking about the cash back promotion of SCB? Their offer is good. Last time I got two cards approved as well but they don't give the cash back right away. They require the card holders to use each of their credit cards two times first. Once you have met their requirement, they will give the cash back. It took about three months for me last time. But the RM50 gov tax will be charged as soon as your credit card account is created. I got first year annual fee waived. To confirm this you may call them first before submitting your application. This post has been edited by lkcheng: Apr 28 2012, 09:20 AM

QUOTE(lkso20 @ Apr 28 2012, 02:53 PM) Bank Rakyat is covered but not under banking institutions. It is classified as deposit taking development financial institutions under PIDM. http://www.pidm.gov.my/downloads/list_of_g...aranteed_fi.pdfCan you confirm this? The info in the pdf file was updated on 29 April 2010. I just checked PIDM site at http://www.pidm.gov.my/About-Deposit-Insur...ution-List.aspx, Can't find Bank Rakyat in the list and it says Development financial institutions aren't PIDM members. QUOTE(magika @ Apr 17 2012, 10:43 AM) Bank Rakyat rates are all the same. The 3 diff fds are 1. Qiradh - fluctuating interest 2. Mubeen - Fixed interest. 3. Warga Emas - Fixed int only diff lower deposit just remember above 50 k single cert can ask extra 0.05 HI, I notice that Joint Account is listed under Mubeen, while none is listed for Warga Emas. My question is, can I open a Warga Emas Joint Account with my mom? I am not an old citizen, but she is. Thanks
