Is OCBC 4% promo still available?
*
No longer available.
But I did come across some promo they are having now for 3 months FD:
http://www.ocbc.com.my/docs/pdf/TC_Conventional_Al-Almin.pdf

Looks too complicated so did not bother pursuing it.

Looks like I have to take my funds out from Bank Rakyat and move to SCB, losing 5 days interest.

Too rush to do that, cash out from Bank Rakyat (free banker's cheque) and JIT to put in SCB FD. All for savings of rm150.

Thanks Genx for your postings here and your blog and also other forummers in this wonderful forum esp "Finance, Business and Investment House". Has been earning some pocket money and some savings. Would have earned more if I have discovered this forum earlier instead of 2010.

In the T&C, it states that all proceeds will be automatically credited into the Nominated CASA.

Now I'm not currently a StanChart customer, is it possible to nominate another bank's CASA for this step-up FD?
Or must I open a new StanChart CASA?

Just to summarize. For 6-month tenure (guaranteed returned), below is the sequence.

1) SCB - average 4.00% (but must be min 50k)
2) Bank Rakyat - 3.75%
3) OCBC - 3.65%

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends on your requirement, if you have extra cash that you foresee that you would not need it for a longer time, you can put it longer to enjoy better rate.

3 mths 4% better or 6 mths 4%?

If in 1 Aug there are other banks offer 4% or more then 3mths 4% is better. Am I right?
